Recently having problems with my new build and I think its down to my memory and cpu being abit dodgy in my BIOS. Ive got a E2180 on an abit IP35 with 4x1gb Sticks of Giel ULL 4.4.4.15 RAM

Problem I have is that just about anything I install lately from an exe file like drivers or game patches results in massive corruption and i dont know whats doing it. People on the WOW boards point to the RAM being the problem so im chacing it up to see if i have the same problem.

Windows update fails continously due to the same weird problem lol.

What should my ram timings be exactly in my BIOS and what ratio should my CPU be to my RAM (1:1 is 400 mhz in the bios and default 1:2 is 800)

I would run them at 1:1 (400 ddr2 = 800) If the fsb ia at 400 and the ram is at 1:1 that = 800. Make sure your ram volts are +.2, thus the ram will be at 2.0 volts.

I've got the same set up and found a 2.8GHz overclock is the highest stable i can get. can't remember the ram timing, its the one closest to 800 (think its at 740?). do a search in the o\c section

Im not overclocking yet so what should I set the ram too? Current FSB is 200mhz

should the divider be 1:1 400 or 1:2 800?

Divider should be 1:2 for PC6400 and an E2180.

Be sure to have the memory set to 2.1v, and give the northbridge (MCH) voltage a 0.1v boost for 4 sticks.

Get a lot of weird corruptions when putting 2.1v through the ram, get it on auto atm which has selected 1.9v and it seems to be working alright. The abit motherboard monitoring also warns me when ive got the ram at 2.1 but says the usuall OK at 1.9
