Hi firends,

I would like some advice on memory.

Can you please suggest some memory to be used with the following;

Asus X79 Sabertooth Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail

Will be purchasing all other componants, so if you have any suggestions on GPU I would be grateful.

Will need a case, I do have an ANTEC 1200 Gaming Case which must be the first version as the ones listed on OC are simular but not the same.

Thanks in advance.... ShaVerZ

Thanks Barry... I've decided to go with the same as you in relation to Mobo, CPU and Memory...

What case including PSU would you recommend and would you go for just the 4 DIMMS of Memory in the kit or buy 2 kits (8DIMMS)?

Thanks for all your help... Shame my Nvidia 8800GTS is so outdated now, looks like I will have to purchase a new GPU also :(

Thanks for the long post... All the info helps :)

I'll take a look later when I get 5, thanks again.

I use to have major problems with ATI, was a good 8yrs ago but the problems put me off for life... I'm sure they've improved a lot since those days...

It's a shame I can't upgrade my old Quad Core but i'll keep it as spare, always comes in handy having another in the cupboard. Just a shame as it cost me a fortune a few years back....

Thanks again mate, i'll keep you posted with my progress...

Oh! Wasn't sure on what GPU to buy but due to cost limitations at this stage was quite limited... Just hope I have chosen well and I haven't used an ATi for years :/

Already ordered... Out of curiosity what would you have changed, I could have looked further into the GPU and possibly changed the two HDDs to one SSD...?

For some reason I can't get OC Website to display on phone as I'm out and about and need to know something in relation to the M/B.

Does it support standard 32bit PCI? It's just that I have only recently got a Edimax Network Card and don't fancy buying another...

Damn! Need a new Wireless card now :'( I know they are cheap but took me a while to hunt this one down due to better compatibility with my Router and Telco's DSLAM. I managed to squeeze a better connection with my Router as it has inbuilt tweaks and the wireless card chipset matched all. Ahwell, no great problem. Will have to find another or use Ethernet...

Yeah, quite a way. I could move everything around but got my Sky box connected also and PS3 VIA Ethernet. I'll find a way, shouldn't be a major problem...

No, I have four but due to the location of everything I have my Router next to my TV in the living room so I can connect my Sky box up for Anytime+.

My PC is at the opposite end... To much equipment needing Internet Access.

I have a Homeplug which is connected up to another PS3 in the house, I could use that for now...

Well, now I can't wait for my componants to arrive so I can start building :)

Let's hope delivery is on-time. DPD =

Again, thanks Barry. You have been a great help and I will keep you updated on the build throughout...

ShaVerZ :)

P.S. Do you think I will notice much difference with general performance against my old rig as listed below or will it mainly be gaming where I will notice?

Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case
Coolermaster 600w PSU
Samsung SH-S183L 18x Burner Lightscribe SATA Black
Noctua NH-U12F CPU Heatsink and Fan 120mm
2x GeIL 2GB PC6400 800MHz DDR2 DUAL CHANNEL KIT (4x1GB)
2x Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB S300 16MB
Retail Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3
Intel Quad Core™ Q6600 2.4GHz @ 3.2GHz
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P

Thanks again /all

I'm hoping this GPU comes supplied with DVI Adapter(s) as my current monitor only supports the standard DVI cable... :'( I'm not sure if such adapters are available...

It says it's Dual DVI, I thought this was so you could use 2 displays but looking on Google images Dual DVI is similar but different from the pics I've seen...
