Men and clothes shopping

Has anyone ever thought that the retail industry treats woman much better? You can find loads and loads of womans shops everywhere, walk into them, find whatever your after, loads and loads of stuff, at really good prices, and then you get a couple of guys shops here and there, and its very very hard to find what your looking for.

I say this everytime me and the misses go shopping. Women have such a huge selection and at great prices in comparison to us men.

Depends really, most of the exclusive outlets are pretty evenly matched I find and for what you get the mens prices are way better.

DO IT.

nice and cool for the summer.. only reason i did it.

Tempted because I'd love to just wake up and not have to bother. Dammit I'd have done the 3 s's in 5 mins if I didn't have to do my boof.

You do get what you pay for in life, it is a simple fact. A 20 quid pair of jeans from topman are not a patch on a decent pair of levis, evisu or armani. Not only in terms of material quality, but the fit of the more expensive jeans is much nicer.

What I do not like is the totally brash and over the top designer gear. I cannot abide huge logos splashed across my chest that say ARMANI or VERSACE SPORT etc. If I do buy a designer item it will be because it looks nice and any branding is subtle.

That said, my favourite designer shop is Reiss. Class clothes without any branding (on the whole). I also have a weak spot for Maharishi combats. The classic Ralph Lauren polo shirt is a must have for anyone's wardrobe as well ;)

@The OP. Wade Smith shut down here months ago so you will be disappointed if you tried to come up for shopping there. The Met Quarter has just opened around the corner from it with a Hugo Boss, Armani and Flannels so you should be more than happy with that.

Right then, this might be interesting, a quite questionarre:

Your most flamboyant purchase?

Your most regretted purchase?

Your best bargain?

For me:

Vivienne Westwood shirt, one of 5, close on 4 figures.

As above :P, never find myself often in places I could justify wearing it.

End of season at Hugo Boss Rome, amazingly a bogoff sale, 6 suits for the price of 3.

Ahh that's good to know, haven't been up that way since probably September ish.

I agree with the logos too, it's why I can't stand Armani Jeans as a brand, people walkign round with stuff on the only bought becuase of the big AJ on it, its one of the main reasons I mainly wear Prada and Boss.

I probably pay a fortune for aything othe than a nice suit even though I could afford it. Some of my favourite fashion brands are:

Firetrap
Ted Baker
Peter Werth
Diesel
G-star
Full Circle
Duck & Cover

Madhouse also has some great stuff if you root through it all, and that's a fairly cheap shop, it has some amazing T-shirts and jeans.

I find the expensive fashions FAR blander and uninteresting that the more imaginative mainstream fashion labels. I was in Bluewater the other day browsing the very expensive shops and there was barely anything in ther that I would wear or that I thought looked really fashionable... the colours were bland and the styling unimaginative. I actually feel sorry for people who spend that much on the clothes only to look mediocre at the end of it. Seems to my eye that the more expensive the clothes, the less style they have. :p

.

Most Boss stuff has very little branding on it

Clothing is like music. There are no bad genres, only bad artists, and my wardobe reflects that. I have some very expensive articles from some very expensive houses/designers (Roberto Cavalli, Criminal Clothing, Armani, Prada, Gucci), some great 'middle ground' names (Diesel, Full Circle, Firetrap, D&G), and some 'bog standard' high street stuff (Top Man in particular have been right on the button over the past couple of years).

Do I find the clothes have better quality and last longer? Generally, but not always. I still wear some tshirts today that I bought a couple of years ago for £15.

Good clothing should never be dismissed because of where you're buying it. It's as silly as turning off a good song because SClub 7 sang it (for example).

[edit]And there's nothing wrong with some Armani Jeans stuff either, so long as it looks good :p

I'm the same. My diesel jeans have a small Diesel logon on the pocket and not one of Ted Baker t-shirts or any other t-shirts for that matter have huge logo's. I go for the funky stitched designs on the front and the fit.

A lot of the clubs up here now wont let people in in prada gear as the scallies have adopted it as their uniform. Prada trainers, hugo boss jeans and an AJ t-shirt. All topped off with a staffordshire bull terrier.

Weekend informal wear for them is a prada or versace tracksuit, the Lacoste trakkies have been ditched.

That is a brand I would never wear. Lacoste is NASTY!

Of course, not knocking it all, it's the stuff covered with huge "ARMANI" or "AJ" logos I don't like.

What he said! Mid-range clothes like FCUK, Diesel, Fire-Trap etc are the way to go.

Too many egos attached to brand names, I own a few brands but most of these are outdoor gear brands that do a specific purpose. The names represent quality and certain brands are renouned for their expertise in certain garments.

I pick them on what they do rather than look nice.

I couldn't give a flying **** usually. Matalan is where its at! 8 quid for some trackies. Spend a bit more on t-shirts but only like, 15 quid a shirt, i just want a t-shirt with something rofl on it. Will spend money on jackets/shoes/watches though  . Infact i love spending money on watches.

i dont really like clothes shopping all that much, but ive got t-shirts and shirts from Tesco and ASDA, i also have stuff from CK, DKNY etc.. ill generally just buy clothes when i need them, i practicly got an entire new wardrobe when i went to Vegas. But i really dont care what i wear as long as its nice.
