lol does he realise he doesnt have to dump his every waking thought onto his ebay ad? He has issues.
 
He says well looked after and spoiled by it's OCD owner yet lists faults with the car in the pevious paragragh :(

He doesn't have the time to get them fixed (even though he's lost his job) but has the time to post numerious hillarious outbursts on his ad. :D
 
Apart from being a screwball he also has no idea of the value of his car "fetch 2.5k all day long in summer", no bud it really wont.

Anyways just a small tip for you, if you can afford the insurance there is very little real world economy difference between any of the 6 cylinder bmws, I would personally look for a 323 or 328. There is nothing wrong with the 320 though

Its funny you mention that as I noticed that last night. The 328 is much quicker and is basically the same on consumption! :) there doesn't seem to be too many about though.

Ill post the email he sent me, its brilliant :)

Seems to be a bit of a lack of them at the moment but any other time I've looked there's been quite a few around. Don't discount the 323/325 (though I think the 325 is newer and therefore more expensive but it's a good engine)

I would sooner have a nice 323 than a ropey 328. Look for a car that's had the subframe work done on it already or that is very, very sound. Don't be afraid to have a good old poke about underneath, ask if the owner minds and take a trolley jack. You want to check for subframe rust /damage, diff leaks (pretty easy to fix if you are happy to DIY) and have a look at all the rear bushes whilst your down there, you wont see much unless they're totally gone but it's worth checking. Don't let faded / discoloured patches on leather bother you but make sure they tie up with mileage - this can be fixed as a diy for about £40, you'll need to take the seat out but the results are worth it.

Something I'm not sure is a problem on the twin vanos e46 but definatley is on the e36 328 is that if the head gasket goes it's very hard to fix right, something to do with the tightening combination - to the point where if the hg goes on the e36 now you're as well dropping in a new engine. (though to be fair these are dirt cheap)

What are the rules concerning eBay motor sales?

Is he right to say that once you've won the auction you can't back out if the car isn't clean on closer inspection?

So if you wanted a test drive, you'd have to go and view it and then start bidding on the auction? Seems like a waste of time; if the cars good after a viewing surely you'd just want to buy it?

Lee, emails, are often the right conditions for arguments whether it's personal or business. Why is this? Because, unlike a verbal conversation "misunderstandings" can creep in very swiftly. When you communicate with someone "verbally" your able to pick up in variation of tone, pauses, humour etc etc and interject your thoughts when needs be. And because of this its far less difficult to get the wrong end of the stick. Lee, there's 2 things you've not thought about. 1 the car is not taxed, so driving it around and then getting collard by Police is not an ideal situation for you is it. I'm a 30 year old black man from South East London do you know how much times I've been stopped by Police with Tax MOT and Insurance and your willing to run that risk on a public road? The fact that it's a BMW sports car alone attracts Police LOL

2) If you was the FIRST person to show interest in this car then you would have got the red carpet treatment. Put yourself in my shoes Lee, because I'm the most tolerant you can get. If people keep messing you around all the time via "emails" how would you be? Can you blame me for that? (rhetorical question)

I've not denied you the fact of any "test drive" but it would have have to had been on the private road with a round-about which is ample space to get a feel for the car. So the fact that you dismissed it so quickly proved to me that you was not really interested, thus saving me time. I'm just merely saying, have a test drive when you have the money to buy a car. Turing up with empty pockets does not show "intent", because you've not once discussed how much you want it for.(look at your emails all the dialogue's there). I've got no problem with you seriously. I only hope that "one day" you can too experience what it's like selling a car, wading through so much time wasters and wannabe test drivers. In my personal opinion genuine buyers will call you, I know this because that's exactly what I did when I brought my car.

Wow and your sitting there wondering why you haven't sold the car yet? Of course I want a test drive, how can you buy a car and not take it for a test drive. How can I know if I really want it without driving it? It might drive like a piece of **** and I wouldn't know. Your wisdom has lost you a sale this time as your car was exactly what I was looking for, but Ive been well and truly put off by quite possibly the strangest seller Ive encountered.


You may have an abundance of wisdom but I have purchased many many used cars so thanks for the advice but Ill stick to asking for a test drive thanks

Your welcome and thanks for understanding. Test drive I've got no problem with, but with all due respect it's based on 2 condition Lee. Firstly you need to be insured, OR if your really insistent - as long as you've got the money to buy it today when you view it, then I would let you drive it on the private road. In a nutshell if your only coming here today to look at it and drive it without buying today, only come when you have the money to buy it. It's a thin line between timewaster's and genuine buyers. With me, I looked at this car, fell in love with it and brought it on the spot. And there was no test drive allowed! Your lucky that I understand the need for a test drive, but only based on the above conditions mate - nothing personal.

Ah the good old race card, hold on i'll get my violin. Also....its a 10 year old 320 that you will see every day not a bloody V12 vantage - got to wonder how he's driving his "sports car" to get that much attention
 
To be honest he has a point. What happens if you test drive it and write his car or someone elses off? The car would be uninsured. I don't agree with how he went about making the point but it's a far point nonetheless. If you are serious about buying it then I'm sure a policy with a short term insurance provider will be well spent.

I had no problem with that and would quite happily have got short term insurance. It was the rabbling on about having to have the cash ready in my pocket.
