I listened to a talk sport discussion on it. It seems the press put the weight of the world on his shoulders and are a 100 times worse and critical than the uk stuff we see
 
I've heard rumours that it was more of a protest at the Argentinian FA who are currently refusing to comply with an anti-corruption task force set up by the government. Probably should take that with a pinch of salt though.
 
Rage quit. Nothing more. Pretty pathetic, especially when he missed a penalty himself. He should be striving to win his country a trophy to make up for it.
 
It seems extremely selfish to me, even if he was born in the Faroe Islands he should be doing his best for his country even if he won't ever win anything.
 
Retires.....then comes out of retirement after qualified for world cup, a couple of moths before it starts he makes himself available for selection again I bet
 
If we're thinking cynically this is probably just a marketing ploy to get some attention what with Ronaldo currently hogging the limelight with Portugal. Messi and Ronaldo are heavily publicised players.

What a role model for kids the world over with MESSI on the back of their shirt. The message is clear. If you keep losing, just give up.
