its a way to try and drive engagement. it calls to peoples competativeness.

on reddit they also have a interact badge, so if you been interactive for x days you get badge 1, xx days badge 2, xxx days badge 3 ect.
if you time out on the interaction you start again from 0? and work up on interactions?? not to sure on that but that what its trying to convay.

Not good. I often try to find the silver lining in bad news but I have noticed VR stagnate a bit imo. If Meta abandon it then I think its future is very uncertain. All the Meta haters will rejoice no doubt, all while their hobby becomes an even smaller niche with even less games/apps made for it, and anything that is good enough to replace the Quest headsets will be a lot more expensive.

In December metastore(un)support was given a new set of tools to help customers with issues.
The new tools are incompatible with the current meta forum software and they've been MIA for nearly three weeks.
