Just thought about making a thread to discuss all the MGS games including MGS4 etc.

IMO they are all great games, but 2 just tops it for me, 1 and 3 were both very good aswell, apprently there were very old ones years ago on the snes and stuff aswell.

Anyway looking forward to MGS4!

I dont know, theres just something about 2 that i really like, the story is so complex, you need to play through it 4-5 times to understand it, but i just think the whole atmosphere and feel (plus an awesome main theme song) of the game was great, but like i said they are all very good.

Yeah 2 does have the epic factor that 3 sort of misses.

It just feels so cinematic. I think the music has a large part in it, but the camera angles/directing of the cut scenes is also amazing.

Yeah thats definatly what i feel, 3 may have been a better game at core gameplay, but 2 is better for the reasons you have stated.

I'd recommend 3 just for Eva. She's HAWT.

haha yeah, when you wake up and shes getting changed, i laughed at that moment.

One thing i am going to do is play 1 2 and 3 through in a couple of days, that should be cool lol.

yeah i suppose that would be better, havent played 1 in agggess though.

Intro Movie for MGS2

(says substance but the intro movies are identical)

Has some of the great music near the end.

this is the average % score for each game from loads and loads of reviews on gamerankings, i no reviews dont mean much, its what you like that counts but meh ill post em anyway.

MGS1 on PS1: 92.7%
MGS2 on PS2: 94.8%
MGS3 on PS2: 91.6% (or 93.2% if you include subsistence, but they are the exact same game except for added content.)

So they are all pretty close, all great games i guess :p

anyone know how 1 2 and 3 work on the PS3? I really want to play them all again.

If not, does 1 work on the PS2? And will it save ok?

substance for mgs2 and subsistence for MGS3 are both the exact same games, but they just added extra stuff, like mgs2 substance added VR missions and training and a few other stuff, Im not entirely sure what it adds on MGS3, but the main storyline is exactly the same except i here you can do a better 3rd person view.

wow, might have to rebuy MGS3 for that movie, i only played it through once, remember it had a great ending though.

Fantastic graphics for PS2, mgs2 was developed in 1999/2000 and was released in 2001, and the graphics are still some of the best on PS2.

tbh it should just work fine.

There is one moment in all of the metal gears that just makes me :D so much

that part in 2 where snake is in handcuffs and ray is about to jump off arsenal
snake struggles to stand then rips the handcuffs apart and dives into the sea with ray in one of the most cinematic and cool moments of all entertainment

its my favourtie part of anything ever

it just shows you how pro solid snake really is

"Liquid!...stop this thing!"

urgh!

you get a glimpse of that moment in this video

go to 3:38 and wait a couple of seconds.

I've only ever played and completed MGS1 on the psx  Definately one of the best games of all time imo. I never had a PS2 but I do have a PS3, and I will get parts 2 and 3 hopefully soon :)

nice one, both fantastic games.

I would recommend NOT playing MGS2, it's not that great. If you really want something relevant to the series as well as a lot of back history then play MGS1, then Snake Eater. MGS2 is just an abberation in the series to me, and it looks like Guns of the Patriots will hardly touch on the events seen in it except for the character Raiden and Liquid Ocelot.

funny as its the highest rated of them all by reviews, and your saying its not great, i no a lot of people think mgs1 and 3 are better, which may be true but its still a fantastic game.

I find mechs and cyborgs more believable than vampires t b h.

Hes not a vampire, thats just his name, if you call up snake a lot he tells you about him, hes a romania knife wizzard, meaning hes been practicing all his life, he was trapped underground and had to feed on blood to quench his thirst, and he developed a taste for it, and the reason he got the name vamp, was because hes a bisexual, i dont know how it means that, but thats what snake tells you rofl.
