Apparently on the 360 you can click the left stick to raise and lower your weapon.

I played MGS1 years ago on the PS One when it was first released but haven't played any of the series since, recently got hold of a copy of the HD collection for the PS3, it's probably been asked before but what's the best order to play them in, chronological or the order in which they were released? Cheers.

I'd play them in the order they were released, that was how it was intended after all.

Probably worth replaying MGS too, it looks ropey these days but it's still great.

Play in order of release IMO.

+1 for replaying MGS1, I did so recently and it was very good, control aren't THAT bad, but can be a bit iffy

I'm just about to start MGS again. I never finished it as my disc 2 didn't work back in the day

I will then get the Vita ones but can't play 4 as I sold my PS3.

I still remember the first time I saw the transition screen for switching discs, just before you enter the blast furnace. Suddenly thought I'd done the wrong thing and died, only for it to tell me to insert the second disc.

Yes that was it. I recall a furnace, insert disc and nothing. So gutted. Was bought second hand so no comeback.

OK release order it is, thought this would be better but I googled the question before posting and opinion seemed to be split with the links I found, some people adamant they should be played chronologically, cheers anyway. I've still got my MGS1 discs somewhere

but will probably get the HD version off PSN, although it's not particularly HD by all accounts.

Yup this is what I always recommend. Playing series' in the order of the in-game timeline is never really a good idea in my opinion, it's always better to play them in the order they were released.
