Metal Gear Solid HD Collection - Import

I understand the issue but its 2011 and they can sort it out, might cost them more money than they was planning to spend but for me its not a MGS collection without the game that started it all.

Agreed, would absolutely love a MGS1 Remake, the best single player game ever if you ask me, it had everything.

That's a shame. Is it worth playing the others without playing MGS1? I heard that it's worth playing from start to finish, but I don't think I can bother getting a PS1 just to play it.

Was MGS re-released on the gamecube a few years ago?

Well MGS3 is set before 1. So you could play that one first, also i think Peace Walker is set before aswel.

There is a remake on the GC called twin snakes.

It is annoying the first MGS game isn't included but if you are on the PS3, you always have 2 other options. Get the original retail version as all PS3's can play PS1 discs, or just download the PSOne Classic version off the store.

You get MGS 2,3 & Peace Walker. You get the original MG games, as in the 8 bit ones. Not the MGS on PS1.

:p

MGS is on the PS Store, definitely get it. It's obviously not going to play as smoothly as a new title but once you get past that, it's still a superb game with an excellent story.

Don't go down the Twin Snakes (on Gamecube) route, it's a travesty.

You could, but in my opinion it is better to play them in the order in which they were released, as opposed to chronologically. There's a lot of back story in Metal Gear Solid, if you played Snake Eater first you wouldn't get the full build-up or experience.

Agreed. In any case, playing them back-to-back also has the added benefit that you notice a lot more of the small details/points in the games and the storyline that would often otherwise be missed/forgotten. Considering how complex the MGS storyline can get, it really does help to make more sense of it all.

It's finally getting released in Europe this Friday, I've just ordered my copy for the PS3. I really enjoyed MGS2, originally played through it on PC (MGS2 Substance) with a PS2 controller when it came out.

I could have gone for the 360 version but I don't think it supports the pressure sensitive analog buttons (for aiming) as I seem to remember the Xbox version of Substance having a modifier button to achieve the same effect as the analog buttons. The PS3 version is all on 1 disk as well rather than 2 which is a minor advantage.

pressure sensitive buttons for aiming?

It allowed you to lower your gun, I often made the mistake on substance thinking I still had it :D

Half press a button and it would aim at a guys head, full press and he's dead. Alternatively let go and he lowers the gun.

Definitely a missed feature, As it made for better sniping\accuracy
