Metal Melting?

From what I remember of my welding course, Cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc and lead all have potential toxic health risks. So any galvanised, stainless, copper, brass. Just best to have a respirator with filters for fumes/ all round (P3R).

Im mainly doing this for fun tbh. All the melting down...
I already do gold recovery, mainly for fun.. But also as a future value....
People invest in bitcoin.... I invest in gold... Not as unstable as crypto :P
So im mainly just having fun with this too..
Sure, i can scrap the metal how it is.. But there's no fun in that haha...

Its just for fun...
and because i already melt down gold.. So same topic of hobby haha

and no.. Im not a gypsy.. I just happened to do a lot of work on my house recently.. and now have a garden full of scrap metal haha

But yes.. I like Dags :D I like snakes more tho :D

most things like motherboards and stuff is ground up and done in acid. not like in china and stuff. as for investing in gold. always a safe bet.

do you do the stupidly dangerous mercury thing they do in the 3rd world?

Gold recovery is done with Nitric Acid, Hydocchloric acid etc...

All gold plated connectors from pc motherboards, CPU's, RAM sticks, etc, Are bathed in Nitric Acid to dissolve all other base metals... Leaving gold flakes in the bottom...
I then dissolve the golf flakes with hydochloric acid mix...
and then Precipitate the gold back to solid gold dust form.. Then melt the dust to be a nugget of pure gold...

(Simplest version of the process)

Ive tried investing in crypto etc.. its a long process, that isnt always guaranteed...
So now i invest in gold.... Gold is at its highest price ever...
Instead of savings in cash.. I keep savings in gold...
Mainly for my wife and children, To be financially stable, if / when i pass...lol

I dont sell it.. I keep it all..

Anyone into metal melting?

I have a garden full of copper and aluminium.
Old heating boiler.. copper pipes.. electric 3 phase motors.. etc etc

So bought a metal melting furnace to melt it all down and mold in ingots..
Easier to weight up and sell too..

So far ive bought: Devil Forge furnace.. A handful of ingot molds, a pair of crucible tongs etc

My question is gas related.... How long does a propane bottle last you? and which size?
I ask because, Ive got a 19kg propane bottle thats empty.. Where i am, You must exchange empty for full... So if you exchange in a 19kg bottle, You have to buy a full 19kg bottle.. and they are costly..
If the metal furnaces last quite some time on a small bottle.. I dont really want to have to folk out for refilling a massive bottle...

and vice versa... Is you go through gas really quickly when melting.. Then i may aswell refill the large bottle...

Also... How do you know what pressure to set the gas regulator to?
Is it a set figure? one is good for all metals?
Or is there a set figure for melting each indivudual type of metal?

Many Thanks

I used to turn lead scrap in to ingots. I used a stainless steel pan, my cooker, and a cake tin.

Aluminium is easy too.

Copper, though, is impossible without the proper gear and I never got in to that.
