Metallica - Hardwired... to Self-Destruct (New Album)

The 5th album is officially called Metallica - it's a self titled album.
The Black Album name was given by fans because Spinal Tap also had an all Black Album.
The Metallica album isn't actually totally black because it has got the snake logo on it and their name.

I've not been able to force myself to listen to anything except this album for the last week and it's been a long time since a Metallica album had that effect on me.

Yes, how dare you call the album commonly known as 'the black album' the Black Album.

What were you thinking?

like this. Bit too repetative for me though, a bit by the numbers. Still, WAY better produced than St. Anger and Death Magnetic though, it sounds great.

I'm not sure I see the fuss so far. The songs are all too long and plodding for the most part, I can't recall half of them.
I think it's just as bad as any of their post-self-titled stuff. Only the production is slightly better.

I only really like Spit Out the Bone. I don't really like the guitar tone on the album either. It's not as tight as the older albums, sounds a bit flubby for lack of a better word. James' vocals sound great though.

Having had time to give this album a few listens through since release. I do quite like it, far better than St Anger and a little better than Death Magnetic. The main issue I have, which seems other have also, is that for the most part the songs don't sound that different to each other. Best songs for me though are Spit out the Bone, Moth info Flame though quite like Man Unkind also.

I really like this album, massive improvement which has been good to see. I was starting to think I'd never like another of their albums again.

Caught Spit out the Bone and a couple of the other songs whilst listening to a general mix on Spotify. Quite enjoyed them, although did feel like they went on for a bit longer than it felt like they should have (if that makes sense ?!).

I won't go out of my way to listen to it, but I also won't skip the tracks if they come up.

My thoughts are mixed. I generally like the 'singles' and Spit Out the Bone but they aren't really representative of the bulk of the album, which is actually more akin to load / re-load IMO. Lots of mid tempo chugginess that doesn't instantly excite me.... particularly when some of that songs are that long.
