Metallica, new album on the way (discussion)

Ah bless him.
No its NWOBHM - New Wave Of British Heavy Metal which I put in my original post.

For those that don't know :
During the mid to late 70's rock & metal was slowly dieing and people like me were keeping it alive even though I was attending Sex Pistols and the Clash gigs.
An Underground rock scene started being formed by bands like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head etc and this was later known as NWOBHM.
Lars Ulrich was so influenced by this that he ditched his tennis racket and formed a band based on NWOBHM and Kill Em All was the first album.

I know why it ment, I just couldnt be botherd writing "Of British Heavy Metal".

That guy from metallica was influenced by it but he didnt base and album on it.

Also whats this AJFA mix you have? I use to have one called and justice for jason but i cant find it anywhere. It had the bass more reasonably placed in the mix you could actually here the low end of things too.

You have no idea of your Metallica history do you?
Mind you, you weren't even born.

Whats AJFA? - can somebody ban this troll?

Look at Soulfly, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, urrrm, trying to think of others bands that went stale over time....

What are you on about, Fear Factory are still doing great and releasing good stuff. :(

Bands that went stale over time...Children of Bodom, enough said really, first 3 albums were great, the latest 2 sucked and the preview track from the 3rd is crap.

And justice for all :/

Sorry i didnt take metallica history lessons in school but i did read the wikipedia entry.

I love, and always will love Metallica

I've been a fan since I was 11, hearing the black album and S&M (which incidentally I think is an amazing album, its different but sounds so right, it's just genius). Kill 'em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All, Metallica are some of the best metal albums ever recorded. There is some good stuff on Load and ReLoad but it was a different direction but some tracks were poor. St Anger wasn't all that bad but it wasn't Metallica.

Now Rob is on bass, with Rick Rubin producing I have firm faith in the boys that it'll be back to proper Metallica metal, it won't be any Master of Puppets, because it isn't 1986 anymore and the band have evolved, but it'll be metal.

No matter what, James Hetfield is a God, Metallica are Gods of metal and they will always be amazing live.

Am looking forward to this; one of my first metal albums was Black Album, and they were amazing when I saw them last June at Wembley. Would love to hear a return to standards from Metallica :)

Metallica were one of the first bands that first got me into metal, after I started on the road with punk-rock, ska-punk etc, and gradually moved into heavier and more varied metal.

RE: S&M; got it, brilliant album, some songs like 'Wolf and Man' just sound like they were missing something originally after listening to the S&M version, but other tracks didnt benefit from it as much, and the originals were better (for example I thought original Sandman was better).

PS. Here's hoping the rumour of them returning to Download this year is true!

Don't dignify his incessant claptrap with a response, its what he wants. He's giving Paris Hilton a run for her money in the attention whore stakes.

I don't hold much hope for the new album, St Anger is the only album ive ever thrown in the bin. They have grown and matured into "normal" men with responsibilities. You can see from interviews that they are not in the same mindset as they were when they came out with their better stuff.

I'll give it a chance though as always.

As for that **** that you go off them? I've moved on from them but they were a necessary stepping stone for my musical tastes. I was 14 when I heard my first song, and ten years later I still listen to them.

I still think Fade to Black, Battery and One are some of the best songs i've heard/

Well I love old Metallica. I hadnt heard them for a while so put on St.Anger. My God those drums are just... well  WTF??

metallica, or metal likka still are a great outfit. yes there early work was better for me personally, I was around 18, loved metal and they were iconic. For me my purchaes of them tailed off after Load and St anger I dont think I have heard the whole track list. The early stuff was great and still I listen to them . I grew up on metallica and in particular AJFA and MOP are my top vinly of them. To get to play One on GH3 is so fun and I love it. I was not aware they were recording new stuff and i will await it with interest. After watching the DVD some kind on monster it gave me a greater understading of the band ( and Hetfields addications ) and hope they can bang out a killer CD. They will not reapeat their early domination but they are still a quality outfit. God i rember quoting back " blackened " lyrics back to my folks in the old " attitude needs to change " rows!! hehe . These days Lamb of God are rocking my world!

I personally really didn't like 'Transgression' :( Shame they were the band that got me into Metal really, back in 1998 when 'Obsolete' came out :)

I love the first two tracks off "CoB - Are you dead yet?" but I agree, with having just bought "Follow The Reaper" the old stuff is awesome.
