Intel has confirmed that Meteor Lake Desktop is in fact releasing at some point in 2024, here:
MTL will therefore be the first CPU series released for socket LGA1851 motherboards.
It would probably make sense for Meteor Lake to become the 15th generation of Intel desktop CPUs, given the new CPU architecture.
What does this mean for Arrow Lake Desktop CPUs?
It's worth pointing out that Arrow Lake has been confirmed for 2024, but there have been no details at all regarding desktop CPUs.
Meanwhile, Meteor Lake mobile is launching at the end of 2023... Meteor Lake was originally announced for 2023, with no details given regarding desktop CPUs, until now.
EDIT - Another possibility is that Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake will both be used for the 15th generation, with Meteor Lake only being used for 6-P core or lower models (like with mobile MTL CPUs), and Arrow Lake being the high end.
