I just downloaded this from Steam as it was on offer.
The problem is that it crashes the pc instantly when launched and when i go back to desktop it has changed the desktop resolution from it's setting of 1920x1200 to 1680x1050 for some reason.

Anyone else had this trouble or know how to sort it??

Thanks.

Try this..

Browse to your this folder in your Steam path: Steam\userdata\(user id)\43110\remote (With your own user id.) In that folder you should find the Metro user.cfg file that the steam cloud saves locally. Open it and change the fullscreen value to off, then save the file.

Completely quit and restart Steam.exe so it grabs the updates from the user.cfg, and launch Metro. It should launch in windowed mode. Go to the options menu, and change the Direct X value to 10, accept and quit.

Open the user.cfg file again, and change the fullscreen value back to on. Completely restart Steam again and launch the game.

I had major problems getting this game to launch, oh are you running Windows 7, as these fixes are for Windows 7 or vista I believe..

Oh and if the game keeps crashing after that, try searching for the file content.upk0 in the game’s install folder and rename it then restart the game.

Having awful problems with this game.

Initially had issues with PhysX DLL missing then found all the DirectX apps in the Metro games folder.

Between a few seconds or a good number of minutes the game just crashes to desktop with Metro 2033 Executable stopped.

Have tried pretty much everything save re-installing the game which I can't see will do any good. Seems pretty terminal to me.

One of the best looking games and I've been looking forward to playing this for ages and it looks the the only game that I've ever had to give up on. Absolutely useless.

You tried going to dx9?. Mine kept locking up, then crashing to the desktop at one point in the game, switched from 11 to 9 and no problems after that.

Tried pretty much everything. Running the game in Safe Mode allows me to play for the longest but its about 10 minutes at the most.

I've uninstalled everything related to Phsyx and Metro and going to reinstall now but not convinced.
