Metro 2033 problems

I downloaded this from Steam when it was launched but it still does not work.
Whenever i hit play it just tries to launch and crashes then adjusts my desktop resolution from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050 for some reason.

I would have thought by now there was a patch or is there another problem.

Mp pc far exceeds the minimum requirements so i am at a loss as to what the problem might be.

Worringly I know exactly what your describing!

I downloaded the demo f the game. It worked fine on my xp machine, but when I put it on my wind7 with an 5870 gpu, the game does exactly what you describes.

Crashes and screws up the resolution of my screen.

I never found a fix....

Absolutly no other issues with any other games, so its not my setup...

Hmm this does not bode well. I bought the full version last week, but im yet to play it. I too play at 1920x1200!

Sounds like I going to have issues with the full version!

Are you running an ATI gpu by any chance?

I've just restarted playing this, heard something about a ranger class though nothing seems different atm. Anyway, immediately after installing the game it won't run, like when I played it for the first time. What I've done on each time is to close Steam, then restart it and all is good.

You could try the game's forums?

The demo which I was having these issues with however, did not run need steam.

Hopefully I will not have similar issues with the full game.
