Metro 2033

Yey, thats 2 games ive been wanting for a while that ive got for a bargain price in the last week :).

Just need BC2 and Fallout3 to be on offer for a decent price and I'm sorted.

Right after playing for 3-4 hours I don't get the bad reviews, many said the shooting was poor and that the AI was iffy but I've had no problems.

The gunplay feels great to me, very solid and very precise, you can easily waste ammo and there's a lot of recoil. Monster AI does seem a bit strange but nothing too poor really.
As for difficulty it's pretty challenging, a segment just took me a while to get past as I tried to be as stealthy as I could, I'm playing on Ranger Easy which is definitely not easy, I think it's the same as Ranger Hardcore but you keep the hud, ammo is scarce which is something I quite like, it adds to a game like this.

Performance wise I'm able to run it on very high at 1920x1080 Dx10 and it runs great, it slows down to a crawl when those huge beams of white light shine down but aside from that it's super smooth. Very very very very surprised at this as I'm on a 4870 1Gb.

Great game so far, the atmosphere is insane!

I've just finished it on the 360 and it was a good fun for the 5-6 hours it took to complete.

And for £6, what's that, 2-3 pints?? not bad for 5 hours + of entertainment :)

I always say that any game, not matter the reviews is worth getting if the price is right.

Not bad at all, doesn't seem too bad if a 2 year old card can almost run it at 30FPS average on very high. :) Not sure how much more demanding Dx11 is though.

dx 11 can bring a 58 series card to it's knees in places especially with 4xmsaa and distance of field can drop the frame rates to sub 10 FPS in places

It's the only game that really hammers my rig and I can't run on full!

ATI 5850, 4GB ram with PhenomII x3 @ 3.7GHz (Win XP).

Have to say, this was one of those games I played knowing nothing about it and really enjoyed it.

One of the few PC titles to actually make use of decent PC hardware tech as well. Was a complete breath of fresh air, so well worth a punt if you're got a good system.

Game was so good, I went and got the book it was based on, book IMO was a lot better. Story was much better in the book, but game was every bit as good in some way, and I really enjoyed it. Some of the reviews for this game were harsh.

Yeah I can imagine, don't think Dx11 adds enough to warrant the framerate decrease though, main thing being that objects appear less blocky but you'll never really notice that unless you stand still and zoom into objects.

Wonder how my 6870 will handle it.

Your 6870 should handle it fine, compared to my 5770 lol. Excellent purchase and like someone mentioned, easily the price of two pints so its worth a shot!
