If anyone here is with metronet, then you would know that they've been taken over by plusnet.
I was looking around on ADSL guide and heard nothing but bad things about plusnet, so was just wondering if people here are of the same opinion?
Do you think metronet's service will suffer now that plusnet has taken over?
Also, is it a good idea to stick with them? or should I change?
If change, any recommendations? I'm looking for a 1mb - 2mb connection and no download limit. What would be the best for this?

Pretty much.

Wouldn't surprise me too much if Metronet's service ceases to exist (and becomes Plusnet in all but, at best, name). After all, PlusNet were saying Metronet's offering were "unsustainable" pre-takeover...

shame isn't it :(

I have just migrated to Zen from F2S but was looking closely at Metronet - the +net buy out changed any ideas there...

I joined Metronet in May 2004 and was sad and a little concerned to see them taken over, however so far, things have been pretty much the same for me. I think, the big change will come when they move you onto the central plusnet 655MB(?) pipes. I think they are doing this in stages and involves you connecting to username@metro2 instead of username@dsl2. See adslguide forum for more info.

At the moment, I'm sticking with them until things get worse.

One of the ISPs that some of the people on ADSLguide have moved to is Newnet, but can't vouch for them personally, but they are top of my 'possible' list. :)

Stu

i thought about newnet too, but have been on the sharp end of a small isp going by the wayside, plus a massive influx of customers got me thinking I don't want the hassle any more...

so I chose Zen for no hassles ;) fingers crossed

Considering the responses here and on the ADSL forums, not to mention the fact that I was unhappy with the e-mail they sent me regarding changes, i've decided to switch to Zen and upgrade to 2mb while i'm at it :)

What really irritated me was the fact that they want you to spread your usage across a month evenly and your speeds will suffer if you fail to do so. I don't know when i'm going to be free etc., I just don't liek the idea of any kind of cap on so called 'unlimited' broadband.

Thanks to everyone for their responses :)

When I had a bad patch with PN, I thought about switching to Metronet, but I've since 'learned' how to 'deal' with PN customer service, so I've had no problems at all since then. :)

I will of course continue to review regularly, due to PN's habit of changing policy without warning, but for now I'm on a good service, at a very good price.

Have to agree with Berserker re: Plusnet, it's a bit of a pain making sure you don't download to much between 8am Midnight but apart from that i've had a pretty good solid connection from them for nearly 4years

By the time everybody else has left +Net we should be ok :) especially come April and 8-24mb!
