I agree, as much as I want to see a Red Bull on pole, I would very much enjoy Max to be penalised and stripped of it in this instance. What a knob

[Edit] 3 grid positions in his next race? Surely mean tomorrow, not the next race weekend?

Tomorrow is the next race. He starts 4th.

So he was being cocky thinking they’d just delete his lap and he’d still have pole?

Seems like it. They've never deleted a lap time for infringing a yellow flag. Mainly 3 and 5 place grid drops.

But he opened his mouth and basically dared them to do it, and they kicked him in the arse for it.

Got to listen to him and horners pathetic whining about it all day now though...

There really isn't anything for Max and Horner to whine about.
The stewards action initially is something very much to whine about. Every single commentator picked up on the fact that Max didn't lift off straight away. Yet the stewards didn't bother looking at it until latter, beggers belief to be honest.
Failing to lift off during a waved yellow has always resulted in a grid penalty at least, i don't understand why the stewards didn't look at it straight away. Anyone watching the live quali could see Max hadn't lifted and the slow mo replays seconds latter confirmed it.

It was even more obvious given that everyone else had visibly lifted before him.

While I applaud Max's honesty, I deplore his arrogance and I do think that the penalty was too light. He should be starting from the back. Remember Jules Bianchi.

why would they need to look at it instantly when they have plenty of time after the session (which had already finished) to take a look and analyse. There was no rush. You have no idea that weren't going to look at it as some point before the race.

When people say "too many rules in F1", and I reply "you have to have rules, and have them enforced or the drivers take the ****", nobody likes it. But here again, we have one of the top drivers in a top team deliberately keeping his foot down past a yellow flag to gain advantage, and not even caring about the risk to himself or others.

Why ? Because ignoring waved yellows is just about the most serious offence any driver can commit. Yes they could have looked at it at some point before the race, but it should have flagged up to the stewards that he had ignored waved yellows straight away. All of us watching it live, saw it as did every single commentator. The Stewards would have had the live F1 channel in front of them as well, in my mind they have no excuse for leaving the decision for as long as they did.

Agreed. The amount of people I've seen making excuses for him 'not seeing it', etc., has boiled my blood. Those who arrived before him saw the flag and likely were told over radio, nevermind thinking "I'll slow, there's a smashed-up car stranded just off my line.."

Comes down to Max for me. Has his father's arrogance. Blatant breach of the rules should have disqualified him from the session IMO.

i was supprised no one mentioned if Bottas was alright in their interviews when they stopped on the grid.

hitting the wall sidways wasnt much of an inpact but the stop looked like a big one.

So was i. It took some time before he moved and his breathing was very pronounced as well, as you say, that was one hell of a big sudden stop. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some very bad bruising on his chest this morning.
