There's another example of someone talking out of their ass :D

I really didn't find my mates '05 MG ZR that good to be honest with you. Same speed as my Focus but didn't handle as well as my Focus. It seemed to give the impression of it being a bit heavy even though its lighter then my Focus. I wil admit the one i went in was the 1.4 and not the 1.8.

Also another thing his insurance is above £2k, same area as me whereas i pay £1.5k. I could own a 2.0 Focus Zetec ESP for the same price as a 1.4 MG ZR...

I have not taken any other rover out on a test drive however the Z'ed did handel very very well. Thats one of its few good points.

That seems very high - how old is he?

I'm 21 and I'm paying £900 for comprehensive insurance with Admiral on my ZR 1.8 (including breakdown cover, legal cover, courtesy car, etc. 10 month policy)

This is with no NCB, a fault accident declared and in an OK-ish area of Canterbury.

This is with my occupation as a student living away from home - when I become an engineer it'll drop by another few hundred pounds. I did knock a few hundred off by adding my Mum as a named driver though (the policy is in my name with me as the main driver so it's all above board :) )

I was quoted 1k for my vtr comp, it was nearly double for a MG zr 105 and it needed a tracker.

I found that with a few people - Tesco wanted £2k with a Tracker installed!!

I had to hunt around a bit for that quote and the only people to come close were also in the Admiral group (Bell, Elephant, etc)

Yeah so my point about insurance with these cars is valid, get some quotes before you buy as they can be expensive for what they are. :)

ZR's don't handle well at all in standard form. Can't comment on steering feel etc cos I've never driven one, but certainly when my mate in his ZR trys to keep up with me across the moors it's understeer city round the bends but about the same really in a straight line.

Actually you cant comment on the handling at all if you havent driven one, I have driven the ZR160 and owned a ZS180 and they both handle very very well... you can however comment on your friends driving.. ;)

The ZS180 was a great drive for a fwd car with such a heavy lump up front, but it was unreliable as they get, and drank oil at a rate of 1ltr per 600 miles... which I was told was normal... anway after 2 blown engines it was ditched..

:o
