Picked the above up for the wife for an unbelievably reasonble price. 51 plate, low mileage and well serviced. Its a 2.5 V6 24v quad cam and it drives like new.

My question is this, its 160 bhp and I know they do a 190 bhp version. I'm no car modder etc but just wondered if there would be any way to 1)Unlock the extra 30bhp quite easily or 2) Mod it in someway to increase it. If so what mods would be required. Never done this sort of thing so excuse the noobness.

Thanks in advance..

If it's the V6 version then you have the 190.

The 160 was the 1.8 K-Series Turbo.

Congrats on the car btw. When I heard a ZT 190 in the flesh, I was amazed at how quiet it was. I had to go and stand by the exhaust pipe to make sure it was running. A very quiet and refined engine.

Not sure on tuning options for the V6's. I suppose you could always fit a supercharger

So, how much was this unbelievable price then?

As above, the V6 will come in '190' form, although there were a number of KV6's that left the factory in '177' form.

It is possible to get the KV6 in the ZT to around 200BHP comfortably.
Options would include good enclosed induction (ITG Maxogen for example), a good exhaust etc.

Supercharging still remains a slightly touchy subject, but a few have seen 250bhp with other mods.

They do do a 160bhp 2.5 version 131mph, 8.5sec to 60 and 30mpg.

But its not the same as the 190 version. It would be cheaper to have paid the difference for a 190 than spend the money getting the 30bhp.

Do they? That's interesting :)

Bit weird doing two 160 versions, but as you pointed out, I guess some people couldn't afford the 190 so it would have to be cheaper.

I saw a blue ZT 1.8T parked up outside an old Rover dealer in Bolton before they closed it down. Must have been about 6 months ago. It'd done something like 6,000 miles and was £5,000  :(

Indeed it is a 2.5 V6 160+. I presumed it would have been almost the same as the 190+ except a few little tweaks.

The engine is totally quiet runs beautifully on the motorway, cant hear a thing. a lot quieter than my ST220.

Thanks for the advice I'll look into an exhaust change for sure..
