MGS4 online beta thread

They must know surely that virtually anyone with a PS3 from all over the world will be trying to get on, MGS isn't exactly a small-time franchise.

I can understand not wanting to spend an excessive amount of money on extra servers purely for testing purposes, but if that's the case then don't make it a public beta.

so they wasn't expecting a multi million selling game series to have 'extraordinary levels of traffic' what a load of crap

im glad i didnt bother staying up last night to try and even log in, i knew something like this would happen. :/ its a shame because i can see how much everyone who tried it is disappointed. nevermind hopefully it will be up after work!

indeed, ******* potential customers off even before playing the game is quite a bad start.

If you're going to be involved in a beta test then expect to get ****** off to be quite honest :p You'd could tell it was never going to go smoothly since konami.net is has barely been able to keep up over the past 4 days.

Saying that though, perhaps they should have made the training segment work offline to keep people happy when things don't go to plan...

Fully starred please - Zefan.

Yeah, it might have helped lower the gradient of the initial load on the servers as well, it only takes a second to click ok on the login screen so everyone was pounding the system at once but would take people a longer / more varying amount of time to get through the training.

Let's all be thankfull they done a public beta.
The point in a Beta is to see how the final game will handle it. So i would rather this happened now, rather when i bought the game and everyone still moaned.
Beta's are supposed to be unstable, buggy, crash and have service issues, that is the point of them.
Imagine they didn't do the beta and left it till release day to find out this happened?

most beta's have some problems
but they are really not supposed to be buggy non working and rubbish
it should be a near enough completed product
anyone saying beta is supposed to be broken is just wrong

Agreed, at least now Konami know what load the servers will need to handle on launch day.
