Mi mix 2 releasing Sept 11th. 128GB/256GB, 6GB RAM, 3D biometrics, 6.4" AMOLED, 4500mAh

We know what time it all kicks off? Excited to see what the full reveal is, particularly the camera and battery.

Edit - GSMArena saying it's official. Battery is a lot smaller, slightly weird resolution and one camera on the back. Seeing as the battery is around the same size as the V30 and Note 8, this phone isn't as attractive.

The pixel size for the camera is smaller than that of the S7/S8/Note 8 which all share the same sensor technology. I don't expect it to beat those in low light, but it does have 4 axis OIS, so it will probably record smoother video.

Overall I feel really impressed with the design and materials used, but a little less impressed with the specs. The rumours set expectations high.

I'm really tempted still though. The 256GB option of course. No word on IPX ratings?

Well I can see why they made the unit smaller, seems a positive move as the original was a two hand job even with the additional 'floating menu' . It's a shame they never upped the resolution, always wished the Mi Mix screen was sharper. It wasn't IP68 certified either, and seeing as this release seems to have focused squarely on the bezel reduction and left other areas relatively untouched I guess it'll follow suit.

Interested to see the all body ceramic version at the top end .

OP updated.

I'm not a fan of polished ceramic phones. Look at the Essential phone, that thing looks amazing, but collects fingerprints like no other phone on the market. Why can't Ceramic be brushed or matte textured like Aluminium? Why does it have to be polished? My old watch had a matte ceramic bezel which looked and felt so premium. Can't help but think a phone with a similar presentation would be equally impressive.

Well it arrived today, some quick initial impressions.

As feared the bezels are thicker than the original model but it seems most, if not all of these new devices emerging are a bit free with the term 'bezel-less' screen, so I won't have a go at Xiaomi for that, although last year they were ahead of the curve, now they're just sitting with the rest of the pack, which is a shame.

The screen is decent enough, the lower resolution isn't really an issue for me personally and it all looks very sharp, so no complaints. Likewise can be said for the camera, taken a few snaps and I can't fault it. Granted a thorough review from someone with a more discerning eye may find fault but it's more than up to the job as an out and about camera.

One area is does excel over the original is the way it feels in the hand, nice weight, nice smooth rounded feel to the edges of the housing. Easily roll it over and over in my hand without fear of dropping it. Also after using the Note 8 it's refreshing to find the finger print reader where it should be, sitting in the middle just below the rear camera lens. Pick the phone up from the desk and my finger placement is covering the sensor instinctively, no additional movement or re-griping of the phone needed.

Aside from the disappointing bezels, it's a really good buy so far and I think I'm going to enjoy toying about with the roms on this device.

What app do you use to move the clock off the corner into it being bigger?

I would just delete the default clock and install one from the app store, one that can be more central if that's to your taste.

I am running stock android, can you delete the clock from stock android?

I will be more specific, what specific app did you install to move the clock off the top right hand corner?

Thanks
