Saw this tonight, thought it was awsome.

a lot of people i went with thought it was guna be a bad boys 2 kinda film, i dont think they realised it was a michael mann film, and it was far more like Heat than anything else iv seen, another of his films.

They were disapointed with the ammount of action, but when it kicked off, it really kicked off, think of the Heat bank robbery scene kinda kicking off. Fantastical. Very well filmed and very styleish.
 
Really like the look of this. Might have to go see it. By coincidence I also got Heat today for £4.99 :p

I couldn't agree more. It's a shame the general public will goto see it presuming it will be a Bad Boys no-brainer type film as you say, and so the film will get ripped by most people.

I, for one, am a big fan of Michael Mann's directing, he always sets the scene very well and makes the actors and actresses work for every penny, more than i've seen from any other director, the whole film is very atmospheric and i was gripped all the way through, even in the parts where it seemed to go pretty slow.

Some classic scenes in there too. I loved the one where Sonny is taking Isabella on the go-fast for the first time. The smooth *******. :cool:
 
Saw the first showing, excellent film with some top gun fights - definately not a 5 star film but a 4 star film without question, definately recommend seeing this! Another good summer movie.

Just back from seeing this tonight, I have just finished watching miami vice tv series 1 and 2 so I was very excited :p

The story line to me was a little confusing but kept me interested enough, the build up to the action scenes where amazing.

One part had a packed cinema jump from there chair, try not to go into to much detail but a gun shot goes off when u don’t expect it to, witch brings me onto the action and the special effects.

The effects are so real it feels like you are there, Its like Heat except much rawer more loud and feels as if you are watching a real live shoot out. The guns the noise the explosions all send shivers down your spine.

It has the cars the locations and Colin f and Jamie f carry Crockett and tubs very well, the characters could have been more brotherly as they did seem a bit distance from each other.

Overall I suggest if you where swithering on whether to go see it or not. Please do you will NOT regret it if u like heat.

I didnt think this at all, in some scenes the dudes were tight as, they were just to cool to show otherwise.
 
Having just watch the original tv series this is distant as in the tv series to me they are " tight" but as u say the movie is cool and up to date.

Just saw this tonight. Absolutely brilliant - some of the guns they had :eek: And the cars :eek:
A lot of what I thought has been posted here already, although I do have to mention the soundtrack which I thought was awesome throughout. I especially liked the instrumental which was played during the last few minutes of the film - "Auto Rock" by Mogwai. Check it out. Just found a preview from 7digital - not very long but here
 
Went the cinema with about 8 of us last night, i made them come and watch this.

They all hate me now, they didn't enjoy it at all.

What we couldn't understand was a big shift in the plot, not sure whether to post what just yet until a spoiler thread appears.
 
I thought this was one of the most boring films ive seen in a while. Kept wishing it would end :)
 
this was one of the worst films ive ever had the misfortune to watch. and i saw CARS!

the plot made no sense well it might have but i couldnt pay attention it was so boring, you could barely hear what the characters were saying! acting was flat and rubbish

my only good thing was the gun fight at the end, the sound effects were brilliant but it was ruinied by jaime foxx with the stupid roll and shoot

if you want to see my exact opinion look at the review the independant gave, because that is EXACTLY what i said after the film
 
So-so. 20mins could quite easily have been shaved out of the middle, and the lack of sexual tension between Farrell and Gong-Li was laughable. Add to that she mutters half her dialog so you can't understand what's going on. Having the said that, the action sequences and cinematography are up to Mann's usual standards, i.e. superb.
