Mic not working

Hi guys

Recently built a gaming pc, I've had it for for about a month and so far so good other than I can't use a mic.

Speakers work etc

I've tested two known working mics and both exactly the same

If I test it I can see the bar moving to show a input but when I play the recording back my voice is just static, and it's t not static all the time just as I speak

I've played with settings
Updated drivers (keep seeing mentions of realtek but that's not on my driver list?)
Set as default

Ive had a suggestion to update bios but would rather not tbh, hopefully its something else

Any suggestions

have you checked the w10 privacy settings , i had no microphone , the settings stopped it working , nearly drove me mad.
