We have mice in our house :( about a week ago we could hear something sneaking around on the ceiling very faintly and when inspecting the storage cabinet we found they had eaten 12 snickers whole

So we istalled two mousetraps, one in the loft and one in the food cabinet and so far they caught 4 mice already in 3 days

So, does anyone have any other tips to get rid of them or to stop it happening again

Are they attracted by food or just the fact that they are inside a house?

They come for the food under cupboards and things, also they can come from next door if they have no reason to stay there anymore, ie food.

Just get more traps and lay them all over, afterwards have a good clean under all cupboards and that should sort it.

I guess they smell the food and find a way in your house and there you have them, just make sure you don't leave any food at all around the house. That way they would deffinitely go for the cheese in the mousetrap and eventually you will get rid of them.

We had them in our house a while back, I caught a few with the traditional clamp down mouse trap! (don't use cheese, use bread!)

but i think the best thing to get is something you plug into the mains and it emits some sort of high frequency sound that they can't stand, they'll up-nest and move out!

:D

Ah, that sounds promising, I'll have a look around for such a thing.

So far the traps work fine, looks like our mice are not as intelligent as the one in the movie Mouse Hunt :p

Haha, I wasn't half expecting that reply :D

But tbh that cat does not look like the mouse killer I need :o

We had cats in the house in the past but not anymore, we stopped having them 3 years ago when we got a kid and they became jealous and the hairs they lose are annoying.

You should lure them to a piece of cheese, then pull out a big mallet and like that game at theme parks where things pop up just BAM BAM BAM dead, squished,YEAH, then you should pick whats left of them up by their tails, take it into the garden and BOOSH use a tennis racket to serve them into the house over the road. /keyboard warrior.

bengal cats are the way forward, big mouse / rat killers which don't shed (much) fur and don't cause the allergic reactions that moggies do ;)

If you are really anti cat's just put some poison down in the loft / out of the way behind a cupboard and it'll solve the problem. If they are getting in form outside then sealing the hole they are using as well will help stop them getting back in.

We decided against using poison as that means we might have rotting mice all over the place, with a mousetrap I can dispose them easily.

As for sealing the house that will be very difficult as it was built in 1938 and is the last house in a row that has a lot of openings a small mouse can go thru as well as a huge crawling space under the house :(

Has a real problem with Rats, Squirrells and Mice. ;)
Kills them on site if i let him. Also the smell of another animal has an effect on Vermin.
Do you know anyone with a Jack Russell you can borrow for a couple of days. Brilliant Ratters and more controlable than a Staff.

My dad has been trying to stop the mice in his shed for about 20 years now, he sets 4 or 5 traps every night and catches 3 or 4 mice a week, they just keep coming. Cats have to be the way forward if you don't want to poison them. It's that or call a professional in.

Sorry but those things are utter rubbish tbh, I had a mouse in my house and was told to use one of them..so off i went and bought one for about £40...what a load of crap they are...never did work as the mouse just ignored it.
Anyways bought an electronic mouse killer in which you spread peanut butter in the box...mouse goes in and finds he cant get out due to the way the box is built...its powered by 2 batteries...mouse steps on 2 metal plates and bamo dead mouse.,...you then pick up the box..open the lid and dump the dead mouse outside.

At least the foxes had a good meal that night:p

Car battery,2x steal sheet metal, and some jump leads and rubber for insulating.

Place first sheet metal in loft at a convienet location, now place 4 rubber insulators down, place 2nd (hopefully smaller) sheet metal on these insulated rubber things.

Connect car battery to 2nd steel plate via jump leads

Place food in the centre of the 2 sheet metal.

listen for mouse exectuion music :)

First we tried humane traps, then we tried non humane ones. In the end we just had to put poison down as no matter how many of the blighters we got they just kept on coming back.

If I still had my George I wold lend him to you!

He loved to catch mice, shrews, seagulls, birds etc :p

Yes thats right - an entire damn seagull!
