Micro four thirds -Lumix GF1 vs Oly EP-1

Sony has just announced their EVIl cameras, Nikons are only months away.
Sony's version uses a proper APS-C sensor and I expect Nikon to do the same.

Th Sony retail prices are lower than micro 4/3rds cameras. I would look into the Sony offerings if buying now, or wait a few motnhs and see what the market is.

The GF1 and EP-1 are massively overpriced for what you get so competition is good.

Also, have a look at the entry level SLRs, the improved ergonomics and features justify the slightly increased size IMO. TH Ep-1 type cameras are in a middle ground that aren't so useful to me.

I chose the GF1 after reading a ton of info on both. It was a close call between the two but overall I think the GF1 just trumps the EP-1 for my purposes. It's freed me to have a camera in between a fun point and shoot and a proper SLR and if you take your time with your shot, quality wise it's really not that far off a 'proper' camera in good to medium light. In fact even when it starts to get darker at high ISO it's really not bad.

Where it really shines is street photography where people won't notice you taking photos due to the size, or anywhere a massive camera and big lens will get in the way.

Loads of options on the camera as well, you have total control over what you're doing. The only small thing is that I would have liked another wheel for changing settings slightly quicker in manual.

Reading that back it sounds like I don't think it's all that. I love mine but just giving you some info from my experiences.

Edit: I agree with D.P. If you can hold out you'll probably get more camera for less money soon, it's probably going to become a fairly competitive market.
