Micro Machines v4 Announced

Saw some screenshots of the DS version, and they've gone for 3d, which I was a little suprised about. I'd have thought classic 2d would be far better given the system. Should be ace on both handhelds though, it's the kind of game 4-player wi-fi will suit perfectly. :)

I've completed Mashed and to be honest it's a pretty disappointing game. It isn't half as fun to play as MM/MM2/MM96 on the Megadrive, so I'm not overly confident about what MM4 will be like.
On your own? The single player isn't a patch on MM I'll agree (MM actually had a pretty fun single player), but the multiplayer is a great laugh. It does really need the weapons to be enjoyable, but it's still great fun with 4 people playing, and incredibly competitive.

Wasnt there a MicroMachines released not long ago on..

PS2, Xbox and GC ???

I remember playing the demo.. but it may have been canned. I just remember a sppoky esq level with boats and buggies.
Yeah there was, an Xbox game. Looking at IGN, it seems it never came out. I think I played the demo too, and it was dire, so no harm done there. :o

Yeah. It was done by Infogrames, you know those people. They're the ones who messed up Driver when they took that over too. It doesn't even appear on Inforgrames' website though, so I guess it must've been canned.

Any one know who is doing the new MM game, is it still in the hands of Infogrames, have Codemasters got it back, or is it some one totally new?

Edit - I see that Codemasters are back in charge :)
Also it seems that both the Xbox and PS2 version were released (I'd thought they were) but they didn't go down too well.

Like most people I loved the MM original (played it to death on a Game Gear of all things!).

However I think the last thing the console market especially needs is another driving game :(

It's hardly just "another driving game" though, is it? I mean, sure, it involves driving, but it's as unlike any other "proper" driving game out there (be it arcadey or realisitc) as you can get. I mean, I'm not even sure I'd class it as a driving game considering that's a genre represented by the likes of Forza/Gran Turismo/Burnout. I know plenty of people who have no interest in driving games but still play MM because it's all about the sheer multiplayer fun and simplistic but addictive gameplay of it.
