Micro SD Problem

Hello,

I've had a problem with my Micro SD card. I had it in an android phone, it, overnight, said that it was 'damaged' and needed to be reformatted which I did so through the phone. It has continued to not work.

I then went out and bought a card reader, Windows 7 says that I need to insert a disk into drive 'J', ergo, I can't access it through Windows. I go into Administrative Tools to try and format it that way, and it doesn't appear, unless I plug and replug into the computer the card reader, where the amount on the Micro SD appears briefly, then disappears.

Any idea what might be going on? Could it actually be a faulty SD card? Where it appears, for a few seconds, in administrative tools, makes me think it might be solveable?

Mods: please do move if I've got the wrong forum.

Thanks in advance for any help!

wow, you shouldnt have formated in first place :P

now that youve done it just just format it on pc, into ntfs if its bigger than 3 gigs and if not then fat32, cut long story short, phones use odd or rather different type of formatting compared to pcs and so win7 didnt like it was formatted and decided it needs to be formatted to open it on pc. which is bs since it can actually read it :P

in such cases its easiest to get a microsd to usb converted(quid on ebay) and use that or even easier and free method is to stick the memory card into your phone and connect it pc in mass storage mode, then it shuold pick up your phone onboard memory and the card,

or last and finall method before assumption that its dead, use mdos i.e. cmd,

list disk etc.etc. im too lazy to write you a tutorail just google it

if that doesnt work then yes your card is dead

Thanks for the reply;

I've got a card reader- but Windows simply won't recognise it, neither will my phone.

As I said, for a split second it'll show the volume of the drive (correctly) in disk manager then vanish.

Because my phone says the card is damaged, it won't let me access it via USB storage mode.

I've tried cmd and listdisk and all that- still no joy. Guessing dead card? Sadly I've already spent half the amount the bloody thing cost getting a USB card reader! Wahh.
