Micro-stutter in some games?

Hi all,

I've noticed that I get a slight "stutter" in some games that is only really noticeable when I pan the camera around at a decent rate. It's not really that noticeable but takes away the feeling of everything being silky smooth so is something I'd like to cure. I've tried a few different drivers but am not sure if this is the problem.

Spec is i5 2500K @2.6GHz, Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 board, 8GB RAM, My games are on my M4 SSD with the OS, MSI GTX560Ti TwinFrozr 2GB card. All my temps are well within tolerances.

I'm wondering if this is something to do with VSYNC settings or MSI Afterburner. Frame rates don't seem to dip when this happens (I limit at 55fps). Has anyone had the same issue and managed to resolve it? I'd really appreciate ideas. :)

Not home at the moment but I'll try any suggestions out when I get home later!

Take a look at the release notes for the latest Beta nvidia drivers especially the bit about adaptive vertical sync.

Andi.

Hm will do. I'll run some tests tonight and disable VSYNC but enable triple buffering in afterburner to see if that helps.

Hmmm definitely a vsync issue. Weird! Turn it off and it goes away but I get tearing. Need to suss out the triple buffering thingy...

Indeed. Ignore the triple buffering in afterburner and just try the adaptive vsynch applied in the NV control panel, don't frame limit

OK thanks, I'll give that a go. :)

BTW - I do like frame limiting as it keeps temperatures nice and low. That's the reason I use it - it means my fans don't really kick in and the PC stays whisper quiet.

A third party video card cooler would probably fix that.
