Micro stuttering

9900k is not that great anymore and certainly bottlenecking that 3090.
This is terrible advice. I have a 9900k that isn't overclocked paired with 3090 at 4k and I am seeing zero bottlenecking or micro stuttering.

Max CPU usage is 85% and that is only for a split second.

You need to step back from the keyboard and stop with your elitest veiws my boy

I am going off of previous knowledge and people who have other cards not 3090's at 4K.
3060 Ti at 1080P sound good enough for you?

60% loss of FPS sound good vs a 3070? Sure don't add up as those cards are much closer in performance.

You need to get with the times my boy.

The higher the resolution the more GPU dependant the games are. The op is at a resolution relatively close to 4k so I expect the CPU is fine.

1080p is a completely different situation. Cpus have a much more meaningful impact on FPS.

Hi all looking for a little help. I'm getting quite bad micro stuttering in high end games, bf2042, hitman 3, rdr2, dying light 2 etc.

Running i9 9900k @5ghz 32gb ram @3200 zotac 3090 Samsung 970 m.2 z390 aorus master

All temps are fine I'm not seeing any thermal throttling through hardware monitoring I even did a fresh install of Windows and drivers but issue persists. Frame rates look decent usually between 60 to 120 in these titles at 3840x1600p. But I 99 percentile drops as low as 27.

I have seen other 3090 and 3080/ti owners complaining of same issues on other manufacturers cards wondering if anyone had any idea?
Do you use a controller? It could be that windows is reconnecting during stutters

We know that, you forgot a 3060 Ti is also hugely slower than a 3090.

It is all up in the air at the moment until solid results come back from the OP with other findings from others.

I'm just going off your flippant comment at the beginning, it was pretty misleading

It would not be viewed as flippant if you had the knowledge I had previously before leaping.

Understanding that my point of view is a point of view, I was still waiting on newer information otherwise I fizzle out and no longer respond understanding my POV is wrong which is fine.

The 9900K is perfectly fine for use with a 3090 at that res, certainly until you see what AM5 brings. If working without faults then it shouldn't be causing that sort of microstutter in those games.

Agree 100%. If the 9900K is working properly it should not be causing unplayable microstuttering. Bottlenecking is a different debate entirely. That said, when someone says they experience stuttering, it can mean a lot of different things. 99 percentile drops can even just be because of a ****** engine, or tweaking some overoptimistic settings.

Unreal Engine being a good example, those small stutters in some games when loading assets.

VR with the 3080Ti is unusable for me, and I brought it for development work. It drops frames even in a VR template project. I believe it is faulty or the drivers are broken. I spent ages blaming my system because I had other issues, but after I got that all fixed this problem exists and remains. I contacted Nvidia support in chat and the person on the other end told me I needed to buy the latest PC, and basically told me my CPU will bottleneck at 1080p. Oculus tried to help me, but I'm guessing they have no idea what the problem is, even after taking my log files twice. Their final contact was to tell me somebody else will contact me in a few working days.

3700x + 32gb and never had any plans to play on 1080p.

I contacted OCUK a couple of days ago explaining that this card is useless to me and I didn't get a response.

I can't do any work with it because the card drops frames in Unreal Engine VR on a first generation HMD.

The card is less than five weeks old.

I'm not sure to be honest, but I have a reasonably similar setup : 9900KF overclocked to 5Ghz on all cores, with a Gigabyte Z390 Master and a 1TB Sabrent Rocket NVME drive paired with an MSI Suprim X 3080Ti. However, I don't experience the micro stutters.

It's difficult to diagnose, and you sound like you've done all the bog-standard troubleshooting that most on here would recommend re: GPU drivers, Windows install.

Don't listen to others when they say a 9900K is a bottleneck for your GPU. It's absolutely not in 2022. Especially at the resolution you're gaming at. The 5800X and 9900K are very close in performance and the 5800X is still a very relevant CPU.

Edit : Didn't spot your other post, looks like you may have found your problem. Good luck.
