MicroBoard M340CLZ 34" Curved 3440 x 1440 100hz Freesync monitor

£800 isn't too bad I must say... Would be nice if there were reviews though.

That is much cheaper then i was expecting!

Pre-order special price, once it is in stock, it will be £1000 at which point, cough up an extra £700 and get a superior 55" 4k HDR OLED TV instead :p

I don't think sitting so close to a 55" dispaly would do me any good :p

I am tempted by this but i'd really like to see reviews before I buy and i've also heard rumours of a gsync version coming

G-Sync will come, it will be more expensive and is 3-6 months away. :)

Just imagine the immersion :p :D

And yeah really want to see reviews too, especially regarding motion clarity and if there are any issues with it such as the purple trailing that users are getting with the 24 and 27" models.

Thanks for the heads up on the Gsync version Gibbo, made my day :D. I think your right, there's nothing close to this monitor and Samsung have pulled a blinder from left field.

Best

Yes it is also why Samsung are keeping mega quiet, they will not even be displaying monitors at CES because they firmly believe by Summer next year they will be taking control of the market as the kit they have rivals simply do not have to compete.

I do hope its true, because Samsung make lovely kit and it is always fairly priced. :)

Gibbo, when deliveries are due?

If I knew that vega was going to be really good as in, within 5-10% of 1080 performance level for £400 or less and that this monitor had great motion clarity/response time overall, I would seriously be tempted to pull the trigger but until reviews and vega are out, it is a no buy, just too chancy, it's a shame as by the time they come out, the monitor will be back to £1k, which makes it a complete no go then.

Wouldn't you want a 10bit monitor next?

Yeah ideally would, but even if it didn't, I wouldn't be too bothered. I imagine this will be using 8-bit + FRC.

For me the main thing is VA so there should be no backlight bleed, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and no IPS glow at all.

Well, after trying to look at alternatives around the same kinda price and not knowing what was good, bad or ugly - I preordered the Samsung from Overclockers and hope that it arrives very soon.

As in, like Wednesday fingers crossed :D

The banding on my monitor is it's only downside, so whatever I get next has to be 10 bit so dark scenes show no visual stepping. It was very obvious for me at Zavod Night in BF4, Project Cars, Shadow of Mordor and a few other indie games.

2017 could be an expensive year for me depending on how well AMD perform and I don't mind changing to them from Nvidia if retailers don't take the **** next year with their monitor pricing. The one Gibbo linked seems reasonable but all depends on reviews but isn't it 8 bit as the spec sheet shows:

Color Support : 16.7M

Can't say I have noticed any banding in a lot of content on my 29um65 (true 8 bit)

Only thing that really comes to mind is the witcher 3 and the night sky.

I think this depends a lot more on the developers/game engines too as iirc, even people with some of the 10 bit panels still report banding on certain things (calibrated as well, in fact, proper calibration seems to sometimes make banding more obvious if the source isn't properly done, mrk posted something about this and a certain game a while ago). If you don't see any banding on this test, then I imagine it is just the games/films etc. problem.

If you are thinking of a 21.9 screen, unfortunately I don't think many, if anything "new" is expected as a lot of production for the 144HZ 1440 isn't starting until q3/q4 iirc.

As for monitor pricing, yup, couldn't agree any more but unfortunately the "high end" will probably remain a rip off :o

Good spot, looks like it will be 8 bit then.
