So I'm going interrailing tomorrow and thought I should buy myself a microfibre travel towel so it fits in my bag better. Tried it out yesterday and it's amazing! 1 wipe and you're dry, and then it dries in a few minutes.

So why aren't all towels made this way? Surely it should just be restricted to travelling?

Probably too expensive?

or maybe people like the feeling of a normal towel since the microfibre ones do feel a bit weird.

Microfibre towels are awesome but not particularly comfortable.

I'd imagine using a bidet is more efficient than toilet paper but you know, it just feels wrong.

Watch out, after a few days of use of a Microfibre towels they smell awful! Need to be washed every couple of day, I learn this when travelling and instead bought a standard cheap towel and threw it away if i needed the space in my rucksack!

How much space do you need for a normal towel? Once folded my towel neatly slips in between the usual threads in my backpack when I'm staying away for the weekend.

Unless you have one of those massive beach towels as a bath towel?

Fatties :p

Because:

a) They smell awful after a few uses
b) They don't feel as nice on the skin as a normal towel
c) I would imaging they're more expensive to make

In fairness, a microfibre towel can fold small enough to go in your pocket. That's a lot of space saved over even the most meticulous of towel folding.

I have two HUGE towels for normal use, I like to be completely covered :D

A normal towel. I bet it's a face flannel. :D

Never had a problem with mine smelling and I've used it a lot...

Also they are horrible to use to dry hour hair, other than that they are awesome for drying yourself. On the other hand I wouldn't want to use one as an everyday towel.

I would imagine a waffle weave towel is just as good - I used to dry off my car initially with one of these and finish off with microfibre.

Waffle weave held much more water.

I would find microfibre would be uncomfortable.

They're rubbish.

I used one on the rally last year (a month), and even the largest one would get wet through before you're properly dried. OK, they're small, but I'd rather have had a proper towel!
