Over the past couple of months I've been having weird audio issues. My set up is as follows

Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB audio interface
Audio Technica AT2020 XLR mic
3m XLR Mic cable

When playing a certain game (DayZ) with friends they say my mic audio goes static sounding this is the same for Discord and Team Speak. Also when recording game footage my mic audio is really garbled and digitized, however when streaming on twitch my mic audio is perfect.

Can anyone point me in a direction to sort this out?

That is a pretty standard kit and none of it in and of itself should cause any problems.
This sounds like a latency problem and could be any number of little things. Here are a few things I'd look into:

- Excessive CPU and RAM usage while you're gaming/recording?
- Most motherboards use multiple controllers for their USB handling, try and use the most stable one possible.
- Some USB 2.0 audio interfaces don't like being plugged into USB 3.x controllers and can suffer with latency spikes.
- Are you using that USB controller for any other data heavy external devices like SSD's etc?

Focusrite have published this guide on their website too as it's apparently a common enough problem with Windows 10 and their USB hardware:

Thanks for the response Chaz,

Im using about 60-70% CPU when Streaming and gaming and about 50% of my 32Gb of RAM.
I do have an external HDD connected via USB (now disconnected)

I've also done the optimizations on the Focusrite forum. I'll report back with my findings.

Cheers
