Microphone Issue (Im stumped!)

Hi.

I connect a microphone to asrock motherboard in either front or back ports. It shows in realtek app its connected but when I try discord or voice recorder app I hear nothing. All drivers are up to date. Privacy and sound settings are set correct.

I assumed it was headset so tried in a laptop and it works fine.

So I assumed it was the ports on motherboard. I tried another headset and it works fine!! (Ps4 and Xbox headset with a 1 to 2 adapter)

Is there anything I am missing here or is this ovann headset microphone ***** with me lolol.

First thing to do is got to settings and then privacy settings. You will need to allow apps to use your microphone.

look at the microphone jack of both headsets...are they the same?

this ^ - also if it's a combined headphone mic jack there are two arrangements which look identical from the outside, but the difference is in what ring does what when connected to the socket. Tedious but not much you can do either wade through the tech specs, or just trial and error.
