Sorry to the admins if this belongs in 'soundcity' but not sure where it would fit best being a mic issue and not my headset.

I'm using a Plantronics Gamecom 780, and for some reason my mic doesnt work in game since 2 days ago, but it works in windows and on skype just fine.

2 factors changed prior to it not working, firstly it stopped working ingame after I installed Skype, which has since been removed and still doesnt work and secondly i tripped over the usb cable and yanked it out my PC shortly after and hadn't used it since.

I have switched to using a different USB port incase i damaged mine but still doesnt work in game.

I was thinking maybe i damaged a wire, but surely my mic would be dead and not only work in windows and skype??

Can anyone shed any light for me please? much appreciated as always

Have you set it as the default 'Communications' option under recording in the Sound Control Panel?

(I actually have the same headset)

Yeah, thats all looks fine to me, mic works in windows just not when im gaming, like i said the only 2 cause could have been the Skype install or me ripping the wire out my pc, but then id expect it not to work in windows

What games specifically are you using it in? Are they set to use the headset mic? I tend to disable all the other 'communications' devices in the sound panel so only the headset is enabled. This means by default all games use it without needing to select it within game.

Definitely a configuration/software issue and not hardware. Like you say it wouldn't work at all if it was broken.

Just Arma 2 and DayZ thats all i play online, im clueless as to what it could be, it worked one minute and then the next thing i know nobody can hear me.

im a total amateur when it comes to all this stuff so im stabbing in the dark.

the only thing that has changed since it worked and stopped working was an install of Skype, which I since removed.

I'm assuming you've tried uninstalling the device from device manager and letting it reinstall?
