Hello guys, I have a technical problem I would like help with. I've recently brought a new monitor(a dell 27" ultrasharp) and a graphics card(nvidia geforce gtx 460) in order to play starcraft2 on ultra quality. Everything works fine and well except for one thing...my microphone. My friends like to use skype whilst playing but for some reason, my computer no longer recognises anything "jack ports" (ie headphone/microphone jacks) from my motherboard. In fact I am only able to play sound because there is an audio out jack on the dell screen (but no audio in for a microphone). I have pretty much tried everything and searched on the internet but when I go into my sound options the only thing I get is "no audio devices are installed" (and it isn't a matter of hidden unused devices either). Since I'm not the most proficient with computers, I got completely stumped here so I am asking here for advice. I would prefer not to buy a sound card if I can get the motherboard one working again (in fact, since it isn't a custom made computer I'm even more scared to be wasting money on a sound card if it turns out it doesn't fit...).

Thanks in advance.
