I want to buy a 2gb card for my Vario II.

Is there any advantage to getting one of the 'ultra' types?

Can the phone actually utilise the extra speed?

Thanks

No your device won't use the extra speed. But your planning to buy a 2GB microSD card, then transfering it via activesync to fill it up is going to be painfully slow. You'd be better off buying a card reader. If you do this, then an ultra II card makes sense.

ah right, that's a fair point.

My computer (laptop) has a built in SD slot.

The ultra card will be faster for transferring data to it when plugged into the computer then, even if not when being used by the phone itself?

Yes.
