I'm trying to set up a customer database for my wife who's in the process of setting up a doggie day care business.

My knowledge of Access is limited to linking to external data sources and running queries to interogate the data. I'm confortable with appending rows and updating fields using queries and how tables link together.

What i'm not very good at is what i want to do which is to have a nice easy to use front end with buttons to open up various forms for data to be entered such as new customers, new pets and also to keep track of sales and payments.

My basic logic would be to have just 4 source tables

Dog Owners
Dogs
Services/Products
Sales

Could someone give me a guide on where best to read up on doing what i want, a lot of the example templates in Access don't seem to fit my needs so i figure i need to do something from scratch.

I think i can easily do a form to create new Owners etc but it's the setting up the form to create a sale where i want to be able to select the Service/Product and then it auto populate the amount and create an entry on the Sales table.

I've attached what i've created so far but it's pretty crap! I'm also sure people could create it for me fairly cheap but there's no fun in that!
