friend of mine has just brought her daughter a new laptop and is trying to set it up former.

on the start up screen it requires a microsoft account to obviously link everything.

Now their account is a hotmail.co.uk address and it's throwing up errors saying:
This email is pat of a reserved domain. please enter a different email address.

now i don't see why they need to enter a new email address when this is the one they use and is linked to various sites etc.

can anyone help please

Its a bug, this fix is this:

If you are in the initial Windows Setup flow, use these steps:

On the screen where you would enter the problem Live ID, enter any other working Live ID that Windows will recognize as valid such as [email protected].
This will get you to the sign in screen.

On the Sign in screen, simply change the email address to the desired email address, and enter the appropriate password.
