Hi All,
Have you seen this:

http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=&scope=books

It's great, I did a couple of searches and found some books that I've always wanted to read, but never got around too. If you wanted to, you could research the originals of most any theory/subject

WD Microsoft IMO

(I did a quick search to see if this has been posted but couldn't find anything)

Hmmm, perhaps I have been tainted by a bad first result. Just searched for a book by Alastair I.M. Rae on Quantum Mechanics, and it didnt find it. And this is a popular book on the subject as well. Ill try some more, give the benefit of the doubt. Unless of course im missing something, and it is only a certain type of book / over a certain period in time?

Hmmm, this thread is just going to be full of us people working in disciplines where there are millions of books, being able to pull just one out and ripping poor Microsoft apart. It's only a beta!

/searched for a well known Neuroscience book. No result. However, it did appear to find two journals from the Society of Neuroscience. I'll keep trying.

c'mon, google launched a service like that many months - if not a year - ago! ;)

Microsoft have been in the wake of Google's ideas for some time.

Did Google Video pioneer mass online streaming content, or was it YouTube?

Either way, Microsoft quickly copied Google's success with their new video steaming site, SoapBox.

^^^ perhaps. but this is a book search available to everyone. Massive titles such as ANY of the harry potter books should be on there, dont you think?

Oh and plus, some of those books are over 100 years old. they might not still be publicly available ;)

Well if they're copyrighted I presume MS would have to pay everytime it was accessed, I can't see them being willing to pay

It was launched more than two years ago now, formerly called 'Google Print'. And yes, it's fantastic. I doubt Microsoft can top that ;)

Edit: The Microsoft book search doesn't work in Safari. Just like Maps. Plus it looks dire, the code is awful, the URLs make baby Jesus cry. Will Microsoft ever learn?

thats what i hate about MS, they hate people that hate internet explorer, if you don't have IE then you can't load a lot of MS's website.
I have firefox with the extension called IE Tab, its great, i've set it to load any address with 'microsoft' in it in IE and everything else in FF ;) :D
