Hi,
Did a search but latest post seemed to be around 2 years old! Basically want to start on the certification route so am planning which direction to go. The Microsoft site wasn't too clear and there seems to be a lot of overlapping. After a while I've come up with the following and want to see if anyone has done a similar route / check it looks sound for what I am doing:

1. Microsoft .NET Framework – Application Development Foundation (Exam 70-536)
This is the foundation exam required for all certifications.

2. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Application Development (Exam 70-562)
This along with point 1 would make me a MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications Developer.

3. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, ADO.NET Application Development (Exam 70-561)
This along with point 1 would make me a MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ADO.NET Applications Developer.

4. Designing and Developing ASP.NET Applications Using Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (Exam 70-564)
This along with point 1 and point 2 would make me a MCPD: ASP.NET Developer 3.5.

Cheers!

I will be following a similar route in the near future.

Looking at the modules you have chosen 70-536, 70-562 and Pro 70-564 this will give you a MCPD: ASP.NET Developer 3.5. The module left 70-561 will give you a MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ADO.NET Applications but it won't make you MCPD: Windows Developer 3.5 as you won't have the 70-505 and the Pro 70-563. I'm assuming that's what you want? Myself I will be looking at the MCPD ASP.NET Developer and then onto Windows Developer and maybe look at going for the Enterprise.

If you are going to buy a book for the foundation exam (70-536) I would suggest this http://www.amazon.co.uk/MCTS-Self-P...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1235083105&sr=8-1 - note this is the second edition and most of the errors have been corrected. This was a big complaint in the first edition. Also, if you contact me (email in Trust) I have some tutorial videos which may interest you. Just to let you know I haven't sat any exams myself so I can't offer you advice on that front but as soon as I have the time (next few months) I will be seriously looking into doing my MCPD. HAve just finished studying a part time foundation computing degree. Instead of cartying on to do a degree, am tempted to d something along the lines of this. Have a mate who is doing one and he tells me it's a lot more practical and focused, but quite challenging.

Each exam is about £70 I believe (plus VAT).. this price will sky rocket if you choose to take a course on the subject! Self training is much cheaper, but a lot harder! :)

My work will be paying for the exams and giving me a number of hours a week to do self learning (and will expect me to dedicate some unpaid hours too)! I thought the exams were more like £120, but as Ciphon said, if you have a course its more like £1k+.

@RockLobster: As I will be fitting this stuff around my work / normal stuff, I decided to just outline the first 4 steps - after I will be hoping to become a 'windows 3.5 developer' too (although 4.0 might be out by then :p)... and then I can move onto the analysis and design parts. One step at a time though :) Thanks for all your input.
