Hi all,

I am thinking of doing one or two Microsoft Certifications. Now how do i go about doing this. I have looked on the website and im quite confused. Can I buy the self-teach set and then just take the exam? If so where do I take the exams?

Thanks for your help!

You take them in a "Prometric" test centre as theyre the official body that hosts the exams. Go here - http://www.prometric.com/Candidates/default.htm

You can look at the prices and where to sit them - there are loads of places round the country. Just buy the books, study for each and then book the exams! The MCPs cost about £88 each. Tis what I've been doing for the last year or so.

When you pass the exam, prometric informs Microsoft and the exams appear on your portfolio in the MCP members area on the microsoft site. You even get a little card and certificate to feel important before realising you need a load more lol.

Thats for the MCSA and MCSE exams anyway! May be different for their office qualifications if you're looking at those

If you're next question is what MCSE or MCSA books to get then pop over to this thread which is currently on the forums too - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17644273

For the MCDST qualification you need to pass two exams...

Exam 70–271 & Exam 70–272

Buy the microsoft or sybex books for each of the two exams at about £30 each and after a bit of reading and practise with the mock questions you can book the exam through the prometric or pearson websites. You can also find your local test center by doing a search on those two sites.

The tests are about £88 each.
