Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

I played this at launch on game pass PC , really liked the career mode and got about 20 hours progress in the mode so i decided to buy it on game pass but 2 days later my account got hacked and ive never got it back despite a year of interactions with MS.
The net result is i havent played the sim since but im wondering what the career mode is like now?

Su4 installed earlier this evening.
And...wow. What a difference.

Yes, I had to redo my settings, but it was definitely worth the effort.
I fly in VR, so the frame rate is never going above 100fps. The question has always been how to balance detail/visuals against a frame rate that might have big drops.

Previously, it looked fine at altitude, but low down, what a mess. Photogrammetry was worse than having it disabled, buildings looked melted and it still stuttered in cities. That's with a 5080/7800x3d.

Now, I was able to put the buildings to high and enable Photogrammetry. London actually looked like London, whilst maintaining a respectable frame rate, with very few stutters.

Great job by Asobo.

I haven't tried this for six to twelve months, always seemed to have issues, went through all the updates so may try this at the weekend. I do miss the flying :)

SU4 is what the V1.0 game should've been at release. I've not flown on either 2020 or 2024 for about 6 months (thanks LMU) but after a fresh Windows 11 install and trying out SU4 I can safely say that I'm happily moving over to 2024. Still got to get the settings right and addons but as non-vr user I'm impressed. Will try out my Quest 2 once I can find a good guide to setting it up.

Just been for a flight down the coast of Morocco in a P38, nice.

I also noticed the Stranger Things freebie. Not that I care about the tie-in, but it does include a free Huey, which I love flying in DCS.
Took it for a flight over New York. Yep, massively better than it was. However, still far from perfect. The Huey flies like it's on rails. Just massively too "easy", and yes I have all the aids disabled.
The city still suffered from areas that look like they'd been hit by a Hurricane. The carrier USS Kittyhawk (?) is birthed on the west side of Manhattan. That look like it had taken a hit from an exocet.
