didnt know where to post this, but yeah... i got it in the post this morning... Really really really nice mouse to handle... is basically mouled for my hand :) lol Going from a Razer Krait, it should be a bit of a step up. It will compliment my new E6600/8800GTX system well toooo :D

I've got the Habu and the DeathAdder. The DeathAdder is by the better mouse by far. The hand shape, whilst similar is much more comfortable. :)

That's good to hear. I've yet to chose between a Logitech G5 or the Razer Deathadder, or maybe something like the Razer Copperhead or Diamondback. Have you had any experience with any of these mice apart from the DA? Also, what mousepads would compliment the above mice; i didn't know if laser mice have difficulty tracking on certain surfaces, for example?

Firstly... don't go laser. Not actually that accurate which is why Razer went back to optical with the Death Adder.

I've used a Saitek 1600dpi mouse (laser), Saitek 3200dpi mouse (laser), Razer Copperhead (laser), Diamondback (optical) and Deathadder (optical).

They're all obviously better than a bog standard mouse but the Death Adder is a country mile ahead of all of the above.

I'd put them in the order i've listed them too... worst to best.

IMO the Death Adder is more than worth the £35-£40 delivered you can get it for. :)

Me too! Totally love it. :)

What did you have before tsj?

I had the Diamondback which i was very happy with - but after trying a friends Death Adder out i just had to get one!

I've never liked laser mice, either. From my experience with them, they always seem jumpy and jittery. However, the G5 has a lot of features the DA doesn't have. For example, the ability to increase/decrease DPI, larfe teflon pads and a weight cartridge. Also, i can't see myself getting used to the shape of the DA. I think the Copperhead would be the perfect shape for me but, since it's laser, i should get the Diamondback, right? However, after looking at some pictures of the Copperhead and Diamondback, the former has a much higher, arched bump at the back of the mouse (like a Logitech iFeel) whereas the Diamondback doesn't.

My current laser mouse, which cost me £7 from an auction site, is a very similar shape to the G5. Although it isn't the best shape for me, i know at least i can stand it. Other things i'm not really too happy about with the G5 are the extra buttons on the left side of the mouse, which seem too far forward, and, of course, its laser sensor.

If the Copperhead had an optical sensor (as well as better feet and DPI adjustability) it'd be perfect.

So, what's so good about the DA when compared with the G5, then; is the G5 jumpy at all?

What was so much better about the DA compared with the Diamondback?

I can't compare the Adder with the G5 as i've never used one. But i have heard good things in general so i'm sure they're good.

However, my experience of laser mice in general has been quite poor so i tend to default to recommending opticals as they seem to have more user recommendations in general and personally seem to offer a more reliable tracking experience.

As you say yourself... jumpy and jittery describes some experiences of laser mice that i have also had.

The Death Adder does lack on the fly sensitivity stuff but i find that it's not needed. The speed, smoothness and accuracy mean that a change in DPI is not necessarry. Indeed, you'll probably find that your efficiency going from standard to scoped sniping in FPS goes up with it.

It truly is that excellent. I was astonished when i first used it as i thought my Diamondback could not be bettered!

hey, my mate got him self one and the drivers were dire, so he sent it back and got the deathadder which seems to be best mouse at right now, thinking about replacing my trustee mx518 with one.

OK, you've twisted my arm. :p
I just don't know if i would be able to get used to the shape of it, after using a G5-shaped mouse for over a year. How do you hold the mouse; do you rest your palm on mouse or just have you fingers on it and have you palm floating above the mouse? Maybe i'm better to get an MX518, but it lacks the feet of the G5; speaking of feet, what are they like on the Deathadder?

High speed teflon ones. Seem to work very nicely. I use mine with a Razer Speedmat and it's excellent!

If you manage another 30 posts you'll have access to the Members Market... then you can talk with tsj about the one he may be selling.

Also, as for the shape i find my hand simply rests comfortably over its back. You should find it quite comfortable!

That's good news, then. I wish i could just try one out, though. It's a pitty there's not stores nearby that stock it. Just out of interest, what keyboard is your DA coupled with?

Get a DeathAdder and get a Steelpad 5L... I've been told its a great combination over at XSR :)

Got a Saitek eclipse. Great key action, funky backlighting and is a pretty decent price.
