Hi,

Luckily I was looking at buying some points today to watch a HD film (BT vision will get the money now) and noticed my dads credit card details were locked into my account...

I also noticed they'd be taking another payment on 09/08 for £40...

Can't believe they do this, so now I have to phone them up, get put through to a billing team, then wait for them to phone me back!?

The card has expired anyway I hope, need wait for my dad to get home and check his cc number.

I don't normally get angry but things like this really **** me off. If I wanted a years subscription, I'll pay for JUST A YEAR - I didn't ask for repeat billing (although they probably hid it in their T&C's somewhere).

:(

If they try to bill an expired card I think they suspend your account too, whole system is complete garbage.

Best to get it sorted out ASAP and get the card removed.

Just spoken to my dad and he has no card with the last 4 digits shown in the payment screen.

I'll phone them anyway and see how far I get.

Edit:

Wow, that was easier than I expected.

Spoke to some dutch guy, asked a few questions, reason for cancelling etc, asked me if I wanted to keep it for the next month till it runs out.

All done in 4mins.

Yeah I subscribed to Live in 2004 and only relised they were still billing me in 2007, was a real pain to cancel, had to phone up the customer services and go through a lengthy process. You'd think the biggest software company in the world could sort out online billing.

I had a similar problem.

Annoys me too.

What annoyed me more was 1 week after adding a 12 month Live code I had an email saying they tried billing my credit card but it didnt work.

Why on earth were they trying to bill my card anyway!

It is annoying that there is no option to delete credit card details on the actual Xbox.

I had a painful encounter with MS support which ended in them refusing to cancel my subscription because they didn't believe I was the account holder despite me giving meticulous and correct details. Since then, I have found out that adding subscription codes and such, will not only just give you the specified free period on Live, but also cancels your card's recurring subscription. So I used the GTA4 scratch card code and voila, card's cancelled. Thanks for the loophole btw you morons.

It's an insanely retarded system, ran by money-grabbing idiots. Microsoft could have easily put a 'cancel recurring payment' option in there; but they didn't. I have a hunch they were fully aware that a call-in scheme is not perfect per se, and that there would be moments when the customer simply cannot get what he was looking or asking for.

I haven't paid Live gold membership ever since, and I never will.

You just reminded me my Live sub needs renewing, need to find a cheap card or maybe just cancel it altogether for now as I'm hardly using my xbox.

Wasn't an option to remove credit card details from your account through your xbox one of the listed items rumoured for the cancelled spring update?

I've had similar problems in the past also, thankfully I've got a gold 12 month card ready, I won't be giving any credit card details again.

Get a 12 month sub card, by entering the number it changes the payment type back to redeeming code, it won't bill the cc in future.

They will never add an option to cancel an account/remove a card online as they know people can't be bothered to pick up a phone and sort it out, so most accounts will carry on paying, more money for them.

I dont see why people get so agitated about the repeat billing side of things, you sign up for it with mobile phones, gyms, magazine subscriptions, insurance policies and various other things, this is no different. People just dont read what they are signing up for. Whether their systems fail at times is another matter, but the principal of an annual subscription is a very common one.
