Microsoft Network question

you mean to say your dads wireless connection isnt automatically connecting to the WAP or another machine?
it could be that theres a manufactures tool provided with the wireless card which will run automatically on startup, so instead of using the wireless configuration in windows it uses that?

If WZC is being disabled every bootup, that would seem likely. Best bet is to uninstall the manufacturers software (not the driver), then WZC will be able to take over.

excellent. so how do i go about removing the software without touching the drivers?

i did try this method before but took the whole lot with it so it obviously didn't work.

thanks again.

it's some speedtouch external thingmajig that orange say you need for their livebox to be connective?

are there any tools running in the taskbar bottom right for speedtouch? or anything in add/remove programs?

right its possible maybe to remove it from startup?
go type msconfig in a run prompt (start > run)
then goto startup check for speedtouch whatever the program is, tick it then click ok and restart the PC, then see whether it lets the wireless configuration service bootup.

Cant you configure the wireless with this monitor program?

copy the drivers into another dir, uninstall, then go into device manager, and reinstall the drivers.

If that doesn't work, try another wireless card. ;)

it looks like i can but it's not the most user-friendly thing around so i haven't really got a clue what to do.

just had to stop the software from starting up at bootup and it worked fine.

so thanks for everyone's help :)
