Just sent my 3rrod Xbox in and was just wondering, are they repairing your own console or just sending out refurbs at the moment?

My nephew had his break a few weeks ago with 1 red light. It was well out of warranty and I told him to phone up anyway and lie. Say it had 3 lights.

Yesterday he recieved his old one back repaired with a note saying the Motherboard and Dvd drive had been replaced.

So I'd say there is no need to force break them as i've read some people try after having 1 light.

Every time i've sent mine back i've had the same one repaired apart from in the first couple of months when they gave me a brand new one.

Got mine back Monday, it was replaced with another Hdmi Falcon version, previous died of E74 error, no video symptoms. Probably replaced due to it being only 5 months old from new from online store, sent it to MS because online store probably wouldn't take it back and probably quicker to go MS route. Took less than 2 weeks.

They actually replace them with refurbished consoles that even had previous histories of RROD and similair failures. That's why it's just better to spend the money on a cheap core instead.

Do repaired ones come back as falcons then? Or does the motherboard still lack hdmi?

Has anyone had a console repaired when it has four red lights?
(yes I've tried different cables)

MS say it will cost anywhere between £15-£65. Annoying since 3 lights would be free.

Is there estimate of 3 weeks about right for repairs? or are they being cautious?

This is my third dead 360, although this one has lasted longer than the others, the first one arrived dead.

When I sent mine away I noted down the serial number, I got the same one back with a new motherboard and DVD drive, I got it back in just over a week.

My console was sent back on Tuesday and I got an email yesterday from MS telling me that the console had been shipped and I should expect it back in 7 days. I'm very impressed at how quickly they have turned it around to be honest, especially as it had to go all the way to Germany. I've got a note of the serial number through the MS support site so I'll report back on whether it's a replacement or just a repair.

I've had my 360 for over 2 1/2 years now. Only problem until recently was while running some games, it sounded like the game was being cut up in side the drive! A truly horrible noise. A week ago I got three rings, i fixed it! all I did was unplug my 360, turn it from horizontal to vertical, now it's absolutely fine! still makes horrid noises though

i had my unit returned from Germany last week, and it was a repair to, they replaced the motherboard and DVD drive (not sure why they replaced the DVD drive as i thought it was fine)

I am also very impressed how MS are dealing with this problem

Is it the general consensus that if you bought from the high street but the console is over a year old that it's back direct to MS? Or have people been getting mileage out of returning it to the store directly and hoping they'll be nice?
