important bit, for me anyway...

Those who pre-ordered Windows 7 "E" through a recent discount offer will get the full version, as Microsoft had promised. However, Microsoft plans to now sell Windows 7 upgrades in Europe and also offer a higher-priced full version (for those without an earlier copy of Windows)--similar to what it is doing in the rest of the world.

I pre-ordered "Windows 7 Home Premium E" and that is what was listed on the invoice, but oddly enough i received a second invoice the day before yesterday that now says "Windows 7 Home Premium" without the "E" so it looks like some sellers already knew about this.

So all of us that pre-ordered will get a full retail 32-bit/64-bit copy?

[Edit]
Looks like the retailer I bought from has updated names etc.
2 x Windows 7 Professional £79.99 £159.98

Can't wait :D

Thats a bit of a U turn!
as long as I get my 2 copies of HP @ £45 each I will be happy.
Hope MS don't try to weasel out of it closer to October!

Hmm I wonder what will happen to all the 'vista to W7' vouchers? Will people who brought vista or a pre built computer now just receive an upgrade version rather than full?

Browser ballot screen, huh?

1. Will they be presented to the user in a randomized order?
2. Imagine the incredible amount of thought each browser vendor is going to put in to composing their image and/or blurb to be used on the ballot screen :)

i have pre-ordered a full copy Windows 7E for £49.99, so assuming from what i have read from the link in the 1st post i will now get an upgrade version, which will be a pain.

For me to do a clean install i need to install Windows XP, then install XP service pack 2, then install my Vista upgrade!!!!

I don't want to do all this then install Windows 7 ....

A bit like the search engine choice you get when setting up IE :)

A pretty good idea, although I don't really understand why Microsoft should be offering other manufacturer's product via their own. IMO Microsoft developed Windows and they should be allowed to pre-install whatever the hell they want in there (within the law obviously).

I honestly don't see how it's monopolization or whatever the EU want to call it by simply including their own browser in their own product. It's not like Microsoft are stopping people from installing other browsers.

Maybe I've got the wrong end of it, I haven't read into it at all really. I just think it's wrong that the EU are trying to stop Microsoft from including IE in Windows.

That's right, but it's the FULL retail version not the upgrade retail that we should be getting.

We are getting full retail as far as I know.
