Microsoft sides with Nintendo

but the PS3 does everything both of them do in one neat unit ;)

although i must say, i aint surprised, was only a matter of time.

Actually currently the PS3 does everything the wee, the xbox 1080 and an empty shoe box do.

Nothing.

It formally does not exist until it reaches the shelves. It may or may not do what Sony claim (same goes for the Wee)
;) :D

if ninty were making a console in competition with MS im sure he wouldnt, but as he see's the WII he can see it aint going to compete on the same level of consumer and hence supports it

it also costs the same amount as both the consoles

"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?" Peter Moore, a Microsoft vice president, said in an interview. "People are going to buy two (machines.) They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii ... for the price of one PS3."

I'm surprised Nintendo and MS haven't teamed up to make a console. Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo a few years back and Nintendo laughed at them though. :o

Nintendo have done well with the design of the wii. Because of it's completely unique controller, it really doesn't have to compete with the 360 and ps3. You're talking completely different types of gameplay so there'd be no reason to not have both (apart from money of course).

well i think microsoft are just trying to befriend nintendo. a lot of people are saying if the 360 wants to hit japan etc and do well its going to have to adopt games such as super mario style games. So if microsoft stays on the good side on nintendo and maybe even help them in the future microsoft will get a better image "over there" and possibly secure some sort of deal with nintendo.
Half the time microsoft dont really need support from other companies due to their massive income so they can choose they're allies and i bet they choose them for a damn good reason.

just what i think anyway :)

gotta agree with what he says though, generall feeling on here is the same from current 360 owners wanting another console to go alongside their 360's. and you really cannot go wrong with what Nintendo does and its inhouse games

So reading between the lines you could look at it as... "Ok so the 360 is a bit lacking but you can make up the shortfall by buying a second console but hey it won't cost you any more than a PS3"

They are playing a dangerous game imo. We know that MS make money on the games and not the console. So Johnny birthday boy has a big wedge of money thrown at him... PS3 or 360 + a Wii. Ok he goes for the 360 + Wii as MS are suggesting, he gets one game with each. One month later Johnny pocket-money can afford to buy one game he goes for a Wii game, next month he goes for a Wii one again, the 360 is starting to gather dust....

Whilst that won't be the case for a lot of people there are a fair ercentage of people that can barely fund games on a single system (me included and I have a full time income and no mortgage yet :o ) so they really are taking a risk at damaging their profits to increase market share.

Yay, I said this a few days back in the PS3 announcement thread... There are so many factors you can make up any hypothetical situation to validate both sides of the argument but for me the big thing M$ got right was the fact that with PS3 and Wii launching at similar times probably those peopl who already have a 360 may only have to shell out $200 and get access to more huge back catalogues etc.

It also puts them in a strong position when as people have said, the consumer does the maths and finds they can access 2 consoles for the price of 1, have access to 2 catalogues of games and to contrive a situation, a 2 kid family lessening arguments over who gets a go next ;)
