Microsoft Surface RT Priced

Hopefully this means the 32GB with no touch cover will be no more than £400 here in the UK.

For the RT version I think it's overpriced. Especially when one considers how few apps are actually available in the app store and their quality.

I guess the real challenge is who can make an Core i5 copy for the lowest cost.

A full pc in this form factor with Windows 8 will be perfect.

Makes the iPad look laughable seeing as the RT is a cut down fully blown Windows OS, while iOS is just a jumped up phone OS.

It does indicate the Pro tablets are going to be into 4 figures though :(

In $ yes, it will almost certainly be inline with others at 1000-1200, I'm expecting ~£800 for i5 systems

I'm really hoping the i5 Surface Pro will come in at £800. A few places have speculated a similar price, but I'm not sure if it's a bit optimistic. I'll defo pick one up at £800, closer to £1000 and it's getting too pricey for me.

So is this MS's only?

Because then wont we have a flood of other OEMs and their RT versions?
So we could see a bit of a price war?

Surface will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 26, 2012, at all Microsoft Store locations in the United States and Canada, including in all 34 new holiday stores. In addition, Surface will be available for sale online in eight markets across the world: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States. See Surface.com for more details.

Now all we need are the UK details.

I think the pricing is about spot on. Those who thought it was going to be $300 (or less) and priced to sell in stupid volumes really aren't paying attention.
